Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We have done a lot of flying over the years (have been to almost 100 countries). Air Canada is a favorite of ours. Once took them, in business class, from Toronto to Dubai and it literally was one of the most comfortable flights we ever had. Slept about 5-6 hours and I NEVER do that. Just flew them the other day from Montreal to Detroit and it was fine - polite staff and on time.
  2. This was the only second time in my life I’ve gotten seasick, so I didn’t see a need to get seasick pills!
  3. Have to comment here- we just got off of the Quest on Monday from a Dover to Montreal cruise. This was our second Seabourn cruise, having done one about 3 years ago. Yes, the ship was spotless and the room stewards pretty good. The itinerary was great. But have to agree that the restaurants service was definitely not up to par. Have to ask Seabourn if they know they aren’t going to have enough help, why not reduce the number of passengers?? Got seasick one night, so my husband called for some toast and green apples. After an hour past, he called them and asked where it was. They called back a few minutes later and asked it they could bring it by in an hour!! Two hours for toast and green apples!! and, so much is done via computer - why? The passengers ranged in age from about 50s to 80s. Most can do quite a few things in the computer but Seabourn wanted you to do everything on one. Sorry, not for us. There were 2 future itineraries I was going to book onboard to take advantage of discounts. We did not book them… Thee were other things wrong, enough that I don’t see us traveling on them again. .
  4. We also did a cruise on Oceania that started in Tahiti and visited Pitcairn and Easter Island before ending in Lima. I do not recommend Oceania for various reasons but we did do this trip with them a few years ago.
  5. Flew into terminal 3 on American. Flight actually arrived about 45 minutes early. Landed about 7:15 am.
  6. Yes, all the foul weather gear you can think of is included and the equipment is very good. No, the tours are not included in the price of the cruise but are extra.
  7. Don’t believe what you hear. Came through Heathrow on August 3. Got through passport control and got our bags and were out in 20 minutes.

    Heathrow

Just flew in today and after hearing all the terrible news about Heathrow, didn’t know what to expect. Got through passport control And got our bags and were out the door in 20 minutes! I don’t know why I pay all that attention to the news..l
  9. Tjcox - are you sailing from Dover? We are also and, right now, are sitting in Philadelphia Airport waiting for our flight to London. We live in Sun City, in BLuffton. Where do you live in SC?
  10. That short connection is definitely NOT a blessing. Good luck!
  11. We have a Seabourn trip coming up in a few days and we are flying into Heathrow. I thought about buying the Apple tags but then realized I thought they were a waste of money. So if you lose your bag and can locate it, do you honestly think an airline is going to go through thousands of bags to find yours?! Not likely. So I didn’t buy them. Just didn’t make sense for me to know where my bag is but the airline is not really going to care!
  12. I am quite confused here. On the Seabourn posts, you are quite complimentary about Seabourn but on this Regent list, you are quite negative about Seabourn - which is it? You claim Seabourn nickels and dimes you and you know that is not the case. Although Regent does have free tours they also have plenty that you have to pay dearly for. We have sailed both and we would we hard pressed to say which one we like better.
  13. We are also doing this in a few days. I checked it out and it is only .7 of a mile from the train station to the dock, so it is walkable if need be.
  14. It's been about 3 years since we were last on Seabourn but will be on this cruise but getting on at Dover and getting off in Montreal. The Colonnade is a buffet at breakfast and lunch but a served at dinner time.
  15. We, too, will join you in Dover to Montreal. Also a bit concerned about Covid…
