Glasgow or the surrounding area?

We arrive in Greenock and wondering if we should go to Glasgow or tour the surrounding area? If we decide to tour the surrounding area, what is not to be missed? Is Loch Lomond, Stirling Castle & theTrossachs the sites to see or do you have other recommendations?

Thanks,

Larry

I love The Trossachs and think the scenery is stunning and though Loch Lomond is very beautiful, the roads get very crowded. Stirling Castle is much more manageable than Edinburgh and very popular with overseas tourists. Having said that, it would be an enjoyable tour.

If you decide to go to Glasgow, it is a post-industrial city but still has a gritty kind of feel although it has had significant restoration. There is a Charles Rennie Mackintosh Trail which I love. He was an innovative architect / designer and it is amazing to visit some of the buildings and see the beautiful furniture and his use of light.

If you enter "Glasgow" in the search thread box in the top right of the forum it will bring up a lot of threads from people who have cruised into Greenock, and done tours to the Trossachs and district , and also views and comments from people who have visited Glasgow.

As every one is different, and have their own interests and likes, I always try to avoid recommending what you should see or do, Glasgow "or the dear green place" as its translation from gaelic,is not a crowded nor as tourist as Edinburgh

You could easily access the Isle of Bute.
