Advantages to booking on board

It varies by line.

Princess I prefer a future cruise credit to a deposit on a cruise then I can consider my options.

Cost $100, that's all the deposit you need on a future cruise. And you get OBC, example we have two we are about to use cost $100 ea, will get $150 ea OBC.

Celebrity do similar, but you can choose to take the OBC on the cruise you are on.

I was curious as to people's preference about booking a subsequent cruise while onboard. What are the advantages?

Oh, the advantages are very real!

You're having a great time and are inclined to go ahead and book -- and once you're booked, you're less likely to consider other vacations ... and you're less likely to compare other cruise lines. You get those coupons for friends, so you're likely to sell someone else on a cruise. They give you OBC, which -- in actuality -- costs them very little.

Oh, wait -- did you mean advantages to the cruiser? No, the biggest advantages are for the company.
