Japan

Hi, am thinking of cruising Japan & to have a few nights in Tokyo - the ports seem to vary quite a bit between the cruise lines & don't know whether to spend a bit longer touring Japan before joining a cruise as not many do a full 14 nights - looking for any info, advice or experience from anyone who has done Japan please.
