Paying for OBC in advance.

I think Trevor's concern is that Trevor's friend may obtain casino chips by charging them to his room and, therefore, Trevor's credit card.

Well, as they say "that's what friends are for"

I agree, but if all 4 guests have their own account upon check in as I outlined in my post #23 then Trevor's friend would be charging the casino chips to his own account and not Trevor's or indeed the other 2 travelling companions.

Don't you need to register a card to open an account?. Didn't to OP say that the friend did not have one?.

Every passenger needs an account which is linked to their stateroom key card. Part of the check in process is for the agent to open an account for each of the passengers and the account number is the stateroom number followed by "1", "2" and so on e.g. 9050 1, 9050 2, 9050 3 and 9050 4. Usually, but it doesn't have to be, all accounts are linked to one "account owner" which is then secured with a debit or credit card. If the account owner wishes to operate a cash account, he/she would need to deposit cash at the pursers desk before any charges would be permitted on board. Likewise, if funds run low, a further top up may be required as a cash account is not allowed to go negative.

In Trevor's case all that needs to be done is for each in his party to request separate accounts. It is perfectly feasible for Trevor and two of his travelling companions to each register a card for their own respective accounts and the companion without a card would simply deposit cash when on board. That way they would each have their own account for which they would be individually responsible.

Good morning NW Newbie.

That's exactly what went through my head yesterday afternoon after i had made my comment.

That seems a perfectly logical was around it and to everyone's satisfaction I would presume.
