Taxis at the port in Sydney, Nova Scotia

Hi,

We will be stopping at Sydney, Nova Scotia and wondered if there are taxis at the port. Also has anyone taken a taxi to Baddeck to see the Bell Museum and the village, if so how much roughly was it and are there taxis in Baddeck we can pick up to get back to the port?

There may be taxis at the port but I am not sure there will be in Baddeck. You are better off to rent a car. It is an easy drive.

Google for companies. I know that Enterprise will pick you up.

In planning our June port call in Sydney, I phoned the Miners' Museum (where we wanted to go) and was told, first, that taking the local bus from the pier would require a lengthy walk at the other end, and, second, that a $30+ cab should be taken from "around the corner" from the dock.

I ignored that advice and we asked for a cab at the dock entrance. Only tours (not A-to-B rides) were available, at $160 to the MM with an area tour included. (The ship's MM tour was CAD$240 for two). The Museum was outstanding but I wish I'd listened more carefully about the cabs.

Thanks for the replies. We're not comfortable in hiring a car as we're from Scotland (the original :)) and to us you drive on the 'wrong side of the road' so it will be a taxi. I used to drive in the US over 20 years ago but don't think I would be confident now.

Thanks for telling us to go around the corner from the dock, does anyone have any idea which corner we should go around when we get off the ship?

did you book enterprise .. i just booked a vehicle for our port day .. will call them to follow up but wanted to check whether you personally did this and if so -- did you call before exiting the ship?
