No. Nowhere to come ashore. The Islanders come out in the longboat and then board the ship with their wares.......subject to weather conditions of course.

Cheers, I thought that was the case, hope the weather is good for the visit.:D

They have had their call at Pitcairn and have just left to head for Easter Island.

Wonder if the locals managed to come out and get aboard?

Hopefully they did, and also that they get onto Easter Island. It often happens that they cannot get ashore.

They have been docked with the bow facing out to sea , so we dont get a view of the City this time.Valparaiso is a fascinating call.

If anyone is planning a South America cruise and you start /finish in Valparaiso , a few days stay pre/post cruise , is well worthwhile. When we did it we stayed at the next bay around, Vina del Mar.

Hi all - on my way home from a 14night Cruise on Celebrity Infinity that went to Antartica. Our cruise was the best I have done, and on Saturday night while we were travelling up the Rio de la Plata into Buenos Aires we passed the Sea Princess. I was looking for it but did not realise how close we would be. Here are some shots - enjoy!

They are in Rio ...

The white building in front of them is the actual cruise terminal . Looks like they are docked one ship back from it.

Heres an update on the itinerary until Lima. Will have to watch out for them in the canal,,

The Sea Princess seams to be running slower than normal. Hard to believe it will get to Fortaleza on time.

Yes .. I just had a look. According to Sea scanner she should be in Fortaleza now, but she is still a fair way off and showing only 12.6 knots according to AIS. The important date is her booking through the Panama Canal, They wont want to miss that or they will have to pay twice.

Read on a blog that they are having problems with a diesel generator.

Thanks for the update...Oh dear.

They have several sea days before Panama so may be able to make up time.

Lets hope.

We did the Bris-Syd leg and met a few people that were travelling 84 days. One elderly couple we spoke to yesterday spent paid over $10,000 for travel insurance. They had to take out 2 separate policies and the husbands alone was over $7000.

For the past few years we have taken out a Whole of Year, Fully Comprehensive, Anywhere in the World Policy. We both have medical conditions that we declare but it works out so much cheaper than trying to insure for an individual trip. And nothing like ten grand.

Sorry folks. I just responded to a post without realising it was a really old post on this thread.

Loved our circle Sth America though. Fabulous journey we'd both do again but there's still so much more to see.
