1. 5% discount on bookings. Can be combined with other promotions, on-board booking discount, early booking discount, etc. It used to be a fixed amount ($150 per person), but the 5% is new for 2017. The 5% comes off after the other discounts.

 

2. One bag of laundry per PERSON per week (not just per stateroom). The laundry bags are decent sized; we were able to fit several pairs of pants, a few shirts, and assorted small items.

 

3. Past cruisers' reception. These have been of variable quality, and on a line that is all-inclusive anyway, the added value is somewhat diminished. But, nice to have.

 

4. One-category upgrade (if available, doesn't get you into a suite, etc). Have never had this happen, as we have always booked the highest non-suite or an actual suite.

 

5. Complimentary in-room fruit platter. Not a big deal.

 

NB: Uniworld is part of Red Carnation (a hotel chain). If you've ever stayed in one of those properties, you can get at least some of these benefits, even if it's your first Uniworld cruise.

 

Caveat: only #1 seems to apply on Non-European cruises. Nevertheless, ewizabeff reports that all of the perks were available to her on an Asian cruise.

 

Caveat 2: These benefits can be combined with AMEX Platinum cruise privileges, and the AMEX benefits supposedly apply to non-European cruises as well. I will know for sure after the India cruise, but supposedly we're going to get $300 OBC, a bottle of sparkling wine, and a box of chocolates.

Apparently Emerald will be offering the same PP incentive of $200 pp on your 2nd trip. However, the previous trip must be with Emerald - and not with Scenic (although it is the parent company...).

 

I haven't found this on their website... but did have an opportunity to chat with one of the senior staff at a travel show, and this is the information he gave me.

Thank you FuelScience, just on the Scenic side there are some very, very slight differences from country to country. There is also a new category, 'Emerald' an additional £50.00 per person off your next cruise + £50.00 credit for the Wellness Centre, upgraded hotel where available, multiple access to all dining venues and a welcome home hamper for trips of over 20 days.

I just called them to find out after reading about it here because I paid $50/pp to use Air Plus the other day and have taken 3 cruises with them and am a member of the Explorers Society (:rolleyes:). The rep said unfortunately that's no longer offered. If you've booked a suite Air Plus is complementary but not given as a perk to past travelers.

Ah, I fell down on the job. Sorry about that! From the India cruise...

 

We had the AMEX privileges on the India cruise as well. It was hard to use. But we did.

 

I can't report on the laundry perk because we were in a suite and that included unlimited laundry.

 

They did have a past cruisers reception on board the Ganges River cruise.

I was a little disappointed with my experience with the Hotel Manager on the River Navigator this July. This was my 11th cruise with Vantage and as a President Club Member one of the benefits is a cabin upgrade if one is available. On this particular cruise there were 3 vacant cabins. I ask the Hotel Manager if I could upgrade to one of the vacant cabins. He stated he would have to contact Vantage main office for approval and he would get back to me. After the third day and not hearing anything from him, I asked him what the status of my request was. He replied "If there was good news I would have contacted you". He gave no reason why I couldn't upgrade. What good is it being a President Club member if they don't honor the benefits. I feel that that he acted in a totally non-professional way. The staff constantly stresses that everything is "excellent on board"

It's seems that Vantage does not appreciate your brand loyalty.

I favor Viking, and would be very disappointed if they did the same.

After all, there are many companies river sailing today.

* on our first trip we looked on enviously as about 20 people went past signs saying private function to the Acquavit Lounge for their Society party; on the last trip there were fewer than 20 people who didn't have an invite!

Grand Circle perqs - any previous traveler gets the referral reward. It's a real check, not a credit, for the referrer. Inner Circle members get access to the custom air service at no charge.

 

On our Vantage cruise, a honeymoon couple were upgraded to the large suite from a regular suite when they boarded. Apparently it had nothing to do with "loyalty."

On my second Uniworld trip I also received a small duffel bag. That was a number of years ago, so I don't know if they still do it.

 

 

 

We just received a Uniworld tote bag. Zippered. Nice to carry home some purchases on shopping excursions.
