Ship returns to port at 7:00 and our flight isn't until 2:15. Ideas on what we can do for that time? We will not have our own car so will need shuttle/cab from the port. Would it be feasible to shuttle to the airport and check our luggage and then take a cab somewhere from there? Never cruised from Baltimore so don't know much about area/distance from airport to any areas of interest.

Thanks for any ideas!

Ship returns to port at 7 but you probably won't get off the ship until 8 or 8:30. Baltimore's Inner Harbor is close to the Port but not sure what to do with luggage. Going to the airport first and then up to Baltimore doesn't leave much time to do anything else. You might want to also check out Ellicott City, which is not far from the airport. It's a lovely little town founded before the revolutionary war. Cute shops and restaurants.

There's nothing around the port and to get to the inner harbor of Baltimore, you need a cab because no public buses or metro. From the cruise port to BWI airport is about 20 miles and again no public buses or metro so it could be costly to go from from the cruise port to BWI. My best advice is to stay on the ship as long as you can because there ain't a whole lot to do in Baltimore besides the aquarium and some shops.

The Inner Harbor is a short taxi ride but the luggage question remains. Going to the airport and back uses a lot of your time. I liked the Ellicott City idea of a previous poster. Depending on your interests the Live Casino is also close to the airport. If there was a way to check luggage at the port, I would go with the Inner Harbor.

The Baltimore Museum of Industry is on Key Highway, near Cruise Maryland. Great stop for an hour or two. "Step back in time to the early days of a port city". This is one of Baltimore's hidden gems.

Check it out: www.thebmi.org/

You also have Ft. McHenry .

The only issue is both places you would need transportation to either one as even they are close but not really walkable with luggage.

If you cab down to the airport and check in, there is Light Rail back to the city. Light Rail terminal is at the far end of the terminal from where the vehicles come in.

Or head over to Arundel Mills for shopping (close to the airport) and a visit to the Live! casino.
