Scooter rental/use on cruise in Norway

I've just booked a 14-day Midnight Sun cruise for 2018 (Sapphire Princess).

I have a LOT of trouble walking very far/very long. I'm thinking of renting a scooter for use in the ports.

Questions:

* can I rent a scooter for delivery to a European

embarkation port?

* Can I use it when we tender?

I've never used a scooter when traveling, just locally when shopping. Also, I cruise Solo so a wheelchair isn't an option.

Any tips greatly appreciated!

I am going of a cruise out of Southampton UK in September.

Renting a scooter for first time.

Our cruise line recommended two rental companies that deliver to ship.

We are staying 3 nights in Southampton area and they said they would deliver to the condo and I could drive it onto the ship, but lady we are renting condo from does not want it in her place,

So having it delivered to room on ship.

Did you get a handicap room?

It would make it easier to take through doorway in cabin.

They did not have a handicap room available every morning.

After 2 months one popped up available, so called cruise line that morning.

Both www.Scootaround.com and www.Specialneedsatsea.com are approved vendors of Princess Cruises and both service select European ports.

Only if the tender has roll-on capabilities. Princess used it's life boats as tenders which do not have roll-on capabilities/

  • 2 weeks later...

I recently returned from a 2 week Norwegian cruise on the Prinsendam which sailed out of Amsterdam and I rented a scooter from special needs at sea. We visited Alesund, Honingsvag, Trondheim, Geiranger, and Bergen. All the Hop On buses in Norway are accessible for scooters. We used those in Alesund and Bergen. In Trondheim I followed a walking tour put out by the Visitors Bureau on my scooter and thoroughly enjoyed my day. If you go to Honingsvag or Geiranger, let me know and I'll tell you about our tours there. I travel with a friend but she is not able to help me so I must move around on my own. The cruise was wonderful, the scenery gorgeous, and I know you'll love it.
