Slow Refunds? Any Recent Experience?

We had reservations for three upcoming cruises. The deposits were immediately refunded for our November and March cruises. However, we had a reservation on the August 4th Solstice Sailing from Seattle. The Solstice reservation was cancelled for medical reasons on July 11th (Working on Insurance forms).

As of today, Celebrity has not refunded our tours or twenty five percent of the cruise. We received automated verification that each tour and specialty restaurant pre-pay would be refunded. I contacted Celebrity on two occasions about the tour refunds.

Per the last phone call there are refund transactions sitting in their database waiting to be processed in their next batch program run.

Is this delay normal?

Thank You!

We did have a delay getting a refund of pre paid items on a cancelled cruise. Just keep after them. Not sure what you mean about a 25% refund from Celebrity. If you had insurance and cancelled for a covered medical reason the refund will come from the insurance company, not Celebrity. If you are using Celebrity's Cruise Care cancel for any reason you will get a refund of 75% of the cruise fare from the insurance in the form of a future cruise credit. You will not get a refund of 25% from Celebrity.

They cancelled within the 15-28 day timeframe where Celebritys cancellation charge is 75%. So I believe that Celebrity refunds 25% and the insurance if applicable covers the 75%.

Won't help OP, but if we are cancelling we first cancel out the excursions, dining etc online

( assuming website working ok).... we wait a few day after getting cancellation conf for those items, and then call to cancel the cruise itself

Trickier if it is late in the game ...

Refunds ALWAYS take longer than when they charge you....sucks, but it's a fact of life! Both are but a "keystroke" nowadays....

Not really .... a sale doesn't have to go through an approval process before it can be "keystroked", and banks are much slower processing credit card refunds than they are processing sales. An acceptable delay can be expected because of that, but over a month is certainly not acceptable.
