Balcony cabin?

Recommended Posts

Can't say for certain since we've not done this sort of cruise but based on experience off west coast of Vancouver Is. recently I would say we pretty much stay 10-12 miles out - probably outside territorial waters but within the "economic zone" waters. From there we could see land (especially hills and mountains), barely, but not a lot of features.

Depending on which direction the cruise is going if wanting to see land then northbound do starboard (right) and southbound do port (left). Another factor though might be sunrise/sunset more than land view. If early sun blasting into cabin would be an issue then get a cabin facing west. Most people go to bed well after sunset so that would not matter as much but pretty sunsets could be a plus for facing west. Check out sunrise/set times for the cruise dates.

You might want to actually post WHICH cruise you're doing OP. There do seem to be a few more coastal offerings these days, so with info on the specifics you might hear good news about seeing land from someone. In general though, S88's note makes perfect sense (i.e. if seeing land is needed for you to consider 'this cruise' worthwhile, book a different one as it will probably only be while sailing in and out of port stops you'll see much other than sea, birds, other vessels, maybe a few whales or dolphins if you get lucky)
