cruise101 Posted July 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2017 Is the amount of OBC for stock owners a fixed amount or does it vary based on length of the cruise. Also if both the first and second passengers in the same cabin hold stock individually in their own name, do you get the OBC twice? Thanks in advance for your guidance. ar1950 Posted July 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2017 It varies based on the length of the cruise. Also, only one benefit per cabin. See the attached pdf file. 2017ShareholderBenefit.pdf
Tina G Posted July 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2017 I must say, our Carnival Corp. stock has done so well over the past few years, we recently invested more in the company. The OBC benefits are nice, too.
Pam in CA Posted July 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2017 Also if both the first and second passengers in the same cabin hold stock individually in their own name, do you get the OBC twice? The OBC is per cabin, even if both passengers each own 100 or more shares in separate accounts. It's $50 up to 7 days, $100 7 to 13 days and $250 above 14 days per cabin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
swedish weave Posted July 23, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 23, 2017 Many thanks to everyone for those very speedy responses. Carnival stock also pays quarterly dividends.
LeeW Posted July 24, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2017 If both husband/wife own 100 each and are in separate cabins you can get both. Note when you buy use a company that will reinvest the dividends in fractional shares. For 100 shares you will currently get $40 a quarter. But if you use TD Ameritrade or Scottrade they only buy full shares. Stock price is over $40, so you will only get the cash dividend. My old company bought in .001 share increments and our share count built up very quickly with them. If your 401K provider allows it the stock is a decent place to park money you are not planning on withdrawing anyway. With OBC and dividends we were getting over 7% for quite a few years (and the OBC isn't taxable).

JF - retired RRT Posted July 24, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 24, 2017 Can the obc be used for grats? in the casino? ALL OBC is treated the same. Non-refundable is used first (that's generally going to be your grats each day). Refundable is used when the non-refundable is gone. If you have enough to cover your grats...go shopping, specialty restaurant, casino, what ever floats your boat;).

murphyjl Posted July 26, 2017 #12 Share Posted July 26, 2017 if you hold the shares in joint names and are in separate cabins you get both get OBC. For example if you are parents and need two cabins for children you could put one joint shareholder in each cabin and get the OBC for both adults. Elitein85days Posted July 27, 2017 #17 Share Posted July 27, 2017 Can anyone confirm a 1 night cruise is eligible for the OBC ($50 for cruises less than 7 days) We do 1 nighters all the time since we live near Seattle. We get $50 per cruise. If we get separate cabins then we each get $50, but in the same room it's only one $50 OBC.

Rare Hlitner Posted October 18, 2017 #19 Share Posted October 18, 2017 Over the years we have received OBCs that total more then twice what we paid for the stock And the value of the stock has just about tripled from our original investment amount. It has certainly been an excellent investment....and one that just keeps paying and paying. Hank
Rare geoherb Posted October 18, 2017 #20 Share Posted October 18, 2017 I'm glad I bought stock several years ago. We haven't quite received my purchase price back in onboard credits and dividends, but it's getting close. And the processing of the requests is now much faster. I also like that I can see it now on the Cruise Personalizer when the credit appears. It used to be I had to go through my TA to find out. I faxed my request for our December cruise on the Royal this past Monday and had the credit appear less than 24 hours later.
