News is now breaking that the Island Escape will be replaced in 2016 by the Splendour of the Seas :)

Thomson Cruises adds Royal Caribbean ship to its fleet

Thomson Cruises has bought Royal Caribbean's International's Splendour of the Seas to become the largest ship in its fleet.

The renamed 1,830 capacity ship will replace Island Escape, currently operated by Thomson Cruises' sister company Island Cruises.

The sale was through the newly merged parent company TUI Group's subsidiary TUI Cruises, a joint venture between TUI Group and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

The ship will begin operation from summer 2016.

Its new name will be announced when the programme goes on sale at the end of April.

A transplanted IE crew & chefs on to a bigger better ship with proper theatre & decent casino would be perfect for me.:)

Unfortunately some on the Thomson forum seem to think that the new TUI set up will spell the end for Island Cruises.

Guess we will have to wait for the new 2016 brochure to come out.

Looks to be the case. According to Thomson's Facebook all 5 ships will operate under the Thomson Cruises brand.

If the price drops ! What do you want for your money ? Just book it , you won't be dissapointed.

Not that it is any of your business, but this would be an extra holiday for us in a year when we have a lot of financial outlay therefore we can only afford to book if the price is right.

As it happens, we have decided to go on IE - hopefully w/c 26th May. Just waiting for confirmation of the date of my husbands next hospital appointment.

hi everybody we just booked on IE for the 28th April cruise. had an email and was such a good deal especially with the all inclusive package. Be our first cruise on any other than RCCL where we have done 24 with them. But after taking early retirement at Christmas decided to try other lines. Having said that I saw on Wikipedia that she was once a RCCl vessel (Viking Serenade)

Ironically after sailing on IE which must be one of the oldest cruise ships the following week we will be on Quantum of the Seas which must be classed as one of the newest :)

Regards.

Paul
