Can anyone suggest a good reasonably priced hotel in New Orleans. We are flying in the day before and would like to see the french quarters. There seems to be Abe price difference. Any suggestions?? This is our first time to NOL.

Lots of hotel info in the New Orleans forum.

Since you're flying, you won't have to pay for parking. They really rip you on hotel parking in NOLA.

You will have to pay for a cab, uber, lyft to your hotel if you aren't staying out by the airport. If you want to avoid paying for another ride the next day you can stay near the riverwalk mall and walk to the port. You'd want to look at hotels in the warehouse district for that. When are you cruising?

We stayed at the Wyndham in New Orleans. It was right in the French quarter. Walking distance to great restaurants and all of the tourist sights.

Then we took an uber to the port the morning of our cruise and it was only $8.

The French Quarter, Central Business District, and warehouse district are all right next to each other. Each provides easy access to the sites you want to see and to the port.

Hotels in the French Quarter can be great, but depending on where your room is could be noisy (around Bourbon street in particular). The central business district (CBD) is generally quieter, and the warehouse district even more so.

I have stayed in many hotels over the years, and really like the Sheraton for a big box hotel, the Omni on Gravier for a smaller hotel, and the Hilton Riverside (so close to the port). I would choose based on reviews and price.

Ask away, as I am always happy to help if I can.

Place d'Armes (844-462-8848) is not expensive (about $130 per night) and a very decent hotel in the French Quarter. ;)

We love  Royal Sonesta but it's LOTS more expensive.

Place d'Arms is great location!

We have stayed there. Very good for a small hotel without amenities .

We also stayed at French Quarter Inn . Very good for small hotel without amenities.

We've been to N.O. for cruises 3 times. We always stay at the Drury Inn on Poydras. Its right by the St Charles streetcar line. Very quiet compared to down in the French Qtr, but not too far of a walk to get there. We walked down a couple times a day. And we always get great service. I believe cab fare to the port was about $25 including tip for 3 or 4 of us together.

Use one of the hotel search sites and search french quarter and warehouse/arts district. Hotels will be closer to the port and of course French Quarter hotels are better for seeing the quarter, but either site is walkable (or a short taxi ride if you prefer) for either purpose. Prices vary widely day to day. We like the Hilton Riverside and have have gotten it for $98 a night sometimes and have found it far out of our range other times. One of our favorite hotels that is usually reasonably priced and a great location is the French Market Inn on Decatur street.
