We were planning to use Tinker Taxi from the airport to our hotel in city centre. I understand they are now out of business .

What company would be good to use or should we just pick up a taxi when we arrive. The train is not an option. Thank you in advance.

No more Tinker indeed. Either use Uber, but you will find regular official cabs waiting outside the terminal. Donot use one of those guys offering theior services inside the terminal (even if they have a shirt with official taxi on it), they are cowboys, they have a bad reputation.

In case you want to prebook use one of this sate: https://www.schipholtraveltaxi.nl/en/

We plan to use the train next summer, but I have 2 questions.

Can you buy a ticket at the airport? Can you use a credit card or do you need Euros? Exact change?

The questions/comments are always from the airport to the city. Is the train a good option from the city to the airport?

Thanks for all the information.

Anne

Train works well both ways, especially if your hotel is near the central station. There are ticket machines in the airport arrivals area. They take CC's but rejected mine without a chip and pin. Able to buy tickets at the manned office with either CC or cash. Took a second to find it but was tired off an over night flight. Direct train was less than 20 min and inexpensive. Cabs or Uber are slower because of traffic.

The fastest and most cheap way into the center is by taking the train (about 15 mins). There are tons of ticket machines in the main building which accept both cash, debit and credit cards. If needed, they also have a regular ticket office where you can check for info or buy tickets.
