Piombino port/town

This is our first poc in three weeks time, one of the few med ports we have never been to, so as we have visited most of the tourist sites in this area of Italy we would like to have a look round the local area, although I have searched all the sites I know unfortunately it appears to have little info it also looks a very commercial port from earth photos!

Does anyone know if its easy to walk/taxi/shuttle into town and is the town actually worth it:confused: If all else fails we will probably end up at Pisa.;)
