My first trip out of Bangkok is approaching. I will be flying Cathay Pacific , Business Class, outbound to HGK at 08:35. For you more recent travelers , I have two questions:

1. How early do I need to arrive at BKK?

2. I'll be staying near downtown at the Pullman Bangkok Hotel G. What would be the expected travel/departure time, to meet #1, at that hour in the morning? I've only heard how bad Bangkok traffic is!

Aim to arrive 2hrs beforehand.

I wouldn't say Bangkok traffic is horrific, all depends on perspective, but out to the new airport there is a decent expressway. I'd allow 30mins from my usual haunt, the Conrad, which just on the other side of Lumphini Park. I'd say 45mins, maybe an hour if you want a little extra breathing room.

1. The simple answer is, what does your airline say?

2. Ask the hotel staff. They'll know best what traffic is like on your day/time of travel, and from their hotel to the airport.
