Moreton Island - Snorkeling

If you wish to snorkel the wrecks on Moreton Island do you have to book a ships tour or can you go ashore and make arrangements. Not keen to book in case weather not good. Would also appreciate costs if the Island provides transport to the wrecks

Possible to DIY snorkel as it's walkable from where you come ashore to the wreck site. Just need to be aware that currents can be tricky.

We did it. It was about a 30 minute walk along the beach. There was a strong current we were really tired at the end but it was ok. We are both reasonable swimmers. I would recommend you take fins.
