Vilshofen - Train station to port

We will be sailing Christmas Day out of Vilshofen.

We will be staying in Munich for the a few days prior and taking the train Christmas Day.

Is it possible to walk from the train station to the port? Being Christmas Day hoping we can, so we do not need to worry if a taxi is avalable when we arrive Did a search on the internet and found a map but we all know (and I have experienced) maps can be deceiving with distance! All able bodied so we can walk with our suitcase rolling behind!

Using google maps you can get directions. It looks like it's about 1 km to the nearest docking location and 1.8 km to the most distant. (maps.google.com)

Is Ama offering a transfer from Munich? I know they offer extensions in Munich. Even if you don't purchase extension you can purchase transfer.

No experience with Vilshofen per se but we have walked to other river cruise docks without a problem. We try to keep it a kilometer or less when we're dragging suitcases, but I don't see why you couldn't do this.

We walked from the cruise terminal to the train station. Wasn't a long walk but it maybe difficult with luggage. Friends took a taxi with their luggage.

There are unlikely to be taxis in sight. Your ship can arrange one, but taxis don't hang around river cruise dockings the way they do around cruise terminals.

There should be taxis at the station. I would go prepared with the number of a local service to call, since it is Christmas Day.

You can use Google Maps to calculate whether it is walkable for you.
