First light brought out some of our new Hibiscus blooms to greet the day. As a photographer, I am by nature drawn to flowers for their endless variety and because they are generally quite photogenic. Our new Hibiscus plants have gone past being simply photogenic and have produced some truly remarkable blooms. The branches are tipped with dozens of buds and when the flowers are fully open, they are 8” to 10” across. They were purchased online from a company that specializes in Hibiscuses (Hibisci?) and it is easy to see the difference between a run-of-the-mill Home Depot garden department plant and these plus-size supermodels.

While I wait for my 100-400mm lens to arrive someday, went back to the wetlands with the 70-300mm lens this past weekend, so here's some of the local summer variety:
