Cruise Question

My wife and I are going on a cruise in November. 11/05/17 how full or busy will this be considering kids are still in school?

Totally depends on the week, and which port you sail from.

If it is Thanksgiving week, there will be more families.

You might have a few NJ families. In NJ the public schools close for the Teacher's Convention for two days in November. They are a Thursday and Friday, and in November 2017 they are the 9th and 10th. Some families take advantage of the few days off and head off to a cruise. In Disney they call it NJ week, because so many families take that week and head to Disney.

That is my favorite week to cruise (Birthday on the 5th)! It's always been a really nice week with just a few kids of different ages aboard. It's always seemed like a pretty laid back cruise even if it's sailing full. Just the right amount of lively energy.

Have a great time on your cruise!

I agree that at least 50.1% sail to full capacity but I stick to my prediction above

Taken from Carnival's website:

"We cannot accommodate requests for upgrades on the day of your cruise as we sail at capacity."

The cruise lines would not make money if they didn't sail to full capacity. That's why they offer upsells and upgrades before sailing.

We have been in early November a few times and the ship will probably be full. However there will be very few kids so you don't have as many 3rd and 4th passengers in a cabin. It is nothing like a summer cruise.

Keep in mind, "full" is a relative term. While most cabins will be occupied on all sailings, going on a cruise with school in session, you may have the majority of cabins full with singles or couples. When Spring break, Summer, Holiday vacations kick in, those same cabins that had 2 people, may have 3-4 because more families are cruising. So while the cabins don't change, the # of occupants will go up

Like others have said, the ships always sail full or nearly full, but on my cruise last November there were a few kids but not a lot. It was a wonderful time to sail even though that last night on our way back to Canaveral was kinda chilly.

We have done most of our cruises in early November. We're usually on the ship for Veteran's Day, so right around when you're sailing. It's still just before the Thanksgiving holiday, so most people don't take their kids out of school (but we do! LOL!). He does the teenage club, and it's usually much less full than when we went to Alaska in the summer.

I am certain the breakeven point is not 100% capacity. That would be an awful business model

Have you ever watched the Travel channel about cruising. They state that the ships have to sail full to cover the cost of operating that particular cruise. They make their profits from the casino, bars, shops, excursions, and anything else they can charge you for.

As another poster mentioned, full capacity and all cabins booked are two different things. A cabin may accommodate four but only has two in it. The ship would sail full but not to full capacity.

most likely will be 79% full with less then 5% children

I am about 98.6% certain that you are 100% wrong, as I think it will be more like 94.75% full with only 2.572% children.

We also love that time of year, first or second week in November are the best weeks for the weather and types of crowds on the ship. The rates are usually pretty good also during that time. Like others have said mainly adults and couples, fewer children and makes for a great cruise. Also we like to go on vacation and get refreshed right before the Thanksgiving holiday which starts the busy holiday season. We started cruising this time of the year about 6 years ago and already have next years booked. Enjoy!
