General San Martin, Peru

We will be in this port on March 21, 2018. I am looking at the Ballestas Islands tour. It's a 2 hour tour done in a speedboat. Holland America states in their tour offering "guests with back problems are not allowed to participate." Has anyone taken the speedboat tour and can you tell me if this trip is as rough as they imply? My SO had spinal surgery last July and if it's too rough we just won't go. I've found this tour with other companies (with better pricing) but nobody else puts up this type of warning.

We did this last December with a company called South American Secrets. Everyone seemed to use the same high speed boats that hold about 30 people. They do move very quickly to get to/from the islands. How much you are bounced around is also a factor of how rough the water is on any given day. Not being a doctor, I can't make a recommendation one way or the other about whether it would be okay for your husband. I will say that it was an interesting excursion. You will see lots of birds (islands covered with them) and seals. Local fishermen (divers) also showed us a couple of octopi they had just brought up.
