Magic vs. Breeze

Are there many differences between the Magic and Breeze? For the week we are looking at, 7 days on the Breeze is $800 less for our family of 4. Why? I think I'd pay a about $200 more for transportation two and from the airport in Galveston than Port Canaveral so that is a still a significant savings.

The Breeze has 3 port days instead of 4. Is that part of the price difference?

One advantage for me is that I'm a little nervous about ship movement while sleeping and I can get a lower, center ship room on the Breeze compared to the Magic. Does that make much difference on the big ships?

I've sailed them both. I prefer the Breeze but there's really not much difference.

Home port is a big issue for me and I would happily sail on either one that leaves from Galveston.

My personal experience is that you'll not feel much movement anywhere unless you're in some pretty rough waters.

Enjoy!

The Breeze and the Magic are the same class of ship (Dream class). The structure of the ship itself is essentially the same. The decor is the largest difference; Breeze has a cool, tropical feel while Magic looks a bit like a Vegas casino. Most of the amenities are the same and are even in the same location on the ship.

Breeze is the newer ship and just came out of dry dock if that's important to you.

It's probably cheaper because it's going out of Galveston. I try to book the newest ship whenever possible but I've yet to go out of that port. I booked a really cheap cruise once but ended up switching to a cruise out of Florida instead later. It just seemed like too much a hassle. After I started looking a transfers and hotels it really wasn't saving me that much money. I guess they say the fog can get thick out there too at times.

We loved the Breeze! The Dream is also the same basic ship and I did prefer the Breeze to the Dream. I will let you know in exactly 119 days what we think about the Magic!

I suspect that the Breeze is still going to be my favorite - I just love the Caribbean Resort feel to the decor and I already know going in that the Magic is going to be more neon and less palm trees! :D

I enjoyed the breeze , very open floor plan but it was weird how everything was sectioned off. The sport bar was nice and backed up to an outside area. Lots of open airy areas and Windows to let the sunlight in. We really liked serenity on breeze too.

We have also sailed on both the Breeze and Magic - loved both but I guess a slight edge would go to the Breeze. PS - I don't know how I missed this - but where is the Sports Bar on the Breeze. Was it the Casino Bar? Thanks

We are too! Have only sailed the Breeze once out of Miami, but loved it. We are so happy that they are replacing the Magic with her. Port Canaveral is our favorite port since it is within driving distance pretty easily. We are also from NC, small world. Already have booked her for the 14-day Journey cruise next fall. Can't wait :D
