Hi Marama,

Indeed, Johan and I were 2 weeks on the Pandaw II for the Christmas-New Year cruise on the irrawaddy river in Myanmar in december 2012 !

It was a wonderfull rivercruise.

I've to confess something :)

I don't see / know how to accept your friend request on cruisecritic

But don't hesitate to email me on dhoogheralfatyahoodotcom

( pleace replace at by @ and dot by . )

Hoping to hear from you,

ralf

Hi,

Is this a recommended 'safe' way to give email addresses? What is the advice re sharing details to give help with referrals to people new to Windstar?

It's been the easiest way to give an email address. If someone doesn't want to share theirs that's ok too. I've only met nice people through the forum but I suppose if someone was a total jerk you could just delete the email and block them. I've been able to share itinerary information, guides, hotels, etc. without any problems.

Hi,

We're looking into booking our first windstar cruise ( Tahiti/ sept 2017 ).

Is there any windstar cruise repeater who would like to refer us ?

What information would I need to give to my TA?

Thanks in advanced

OOPS forget you can email me at klfram(at)msn(dot)com

As far as I know you can only get referral if it's when you book. There is some information on one of the Cruise Critic forums encouraging people to use the board to make new friends and get the credits.

Thanks for the answer. I guess we will always miss the referral program if this is the practice. It would have been nice to have some OBC...

Well, once you've booked, you can never use it to get a referral. Only for new customers.

It is only a "referral" if someone books a cruise because of your efforts to recommend the cruise line and play a significant role in getting the person to book, not simply giving your info to someone who is planning to book without any prior involvement by you. Else it's just a scam to rip off the cruise line.

If Cruise Critic is encouraging such a scam, shame on them.

I agree, but Windstar employees do read this forum, and as people post their email addresses, I'm sure they could either deny them credit, or request that CC not allow such threads, if they wanted to.

Hi, We've been reading all the helpful information on CC & consequently looking to book our first Windstar cruise.

If any previous Windstar cruiser would like to refer us & send us info on what we need to give our TA that would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary.

I always book our cruises with United airlines to get mileage points and I do my itinerary & pricing research on their site. I have an agent I always book with but she has never booked a Windstar cruise before. The United website suggested I use one of their premier agents who regularly sells Windstar instead.

Thoughts? I like my agent and want her to get the credit, but is there a learning curve in which a seasoned WS agent would give me a better result?

Discussing specific cruise TAs isn't allowed on CC.

Don't worry, I am a rule follower. I don't want to discuss TA's by name. I simply want to find out if there is a benefit to using an agent that is familiar with Windstar verses using my regular agent who has never booked a WS cruise.

Sorry OP. I am now feeling like I hijacked your thread. That was not my intention.

Only my opinion but I used TA my first booking and she was someone who had actually been on Windstar but not on the ship that we did first time. She did a good job as there are a lot of similarities even with different ships. Used her 2nd time and then decided to go it alone. I think an experienced TA should do a reasonable job if you don't want to use a specialist.

We have tried DIY but using our TA cruise specialist next time for W/S round just to see what the difference is. I think the main benefit for us is that you don't have to do lots of hanging about on the phone. DIY can be quite time consuming. It may also depend on the line in question. For example, our TA gets us a better deal with Seabourn than we could achieve ourselves - and with less hassle.
