The restaurants will most likely be off limits to day guests since reservations must be made at 8am in the morning for guests who are actually staying at the hotel.

We took a land vacation to Nassau 2 years ago and planned on staying at this hotel. We checked out and headed to a different hotel within 30 minutes of our arrival. The lobby area reeked of cigarettes (smoking is allowed in the lobby). We then headed to our room and the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, lampshades were missing and one of the towels in the bathroom had a smear that looked like someone had used it to wipe his bottom. In addition to all of this, we were bummed that we couldn't eat at the restaurants on the first day because of the rule mentioned above. Voicing our concerns to an indifferent staff unwilling to help and telling us that there was nothing that they could do at that moment for us is what made us decide to leave so quickly.

While we could've sucked it up and let go of all these things for the sake of salvaging our vacation, we are at a point in our lives where we've become more discerning when we travel and appreciate a better experience than what this Riu was offering. We decided to go to a different hotel and we didn't regret our decision once.

I do have to say that the view of the beach from our room was about the only redeeming quality of this hotel.

There was no smoking in the lobby when we were there. We also saw some bad reviews of the rooms, but since we were just spending the day, we ignored them. I hear it's going to get some work done and become an 18+ AI.

  • 2 weeks later...

We've been there twice with day passes and would go again. We arrive early to get the buffet breakfast and leave after enjoying the buffet lunch. The food is really good. We usually hang out by the pool but the beach is at the bottom of some steps and there's a shower to get the sand off.
