This is for CG.

Being a typical ignorant American, and having visited Nashville but still having no idea where different cities in Tenn are, I need to ask:

I know you've told us before where in Tenn you live, but my feeble brain can't remember the details. Barbs' brother David and our sis-in-law Barb are moving to the Nashville area. They have an offer on their house with a July closing date if the deal goes through (Nashville will put hem closer to their kids and grandkids - Kentucky and NC).

Just thought I'd let you know in advance to expect some Northerners to be heading your general way.

Loralie ends school with a half day Wednesday; we're going to Scranton PA (2 1/2 hrs away) to watch the Yankees Triple A farm team, wanted to see their up and coming star Gleyber Torres. We bought our tickets already, so of course he gets hurt on Saturday and will be on the Disabled List. We'll come home Thursday and go to Rochester to see Dancing With the Stars with some friends (absolutely not my idea of a good time, but sometimes you have to compromise).

July: Chris was supposed to go to Florida with his girlfriend and her 2 kids and Loralie. the girl (very nice and apparently becoming a serious situation) has had 2 car accidents since they planned the trip (1st was a head-on where it couldn't be determined who ran a red light at a five road intersection; 2nd, she hit a deer coming home from our house). With having to buy a new used car and paying her insurance deductibles she can't afford the trip right now. Chris locked himself in to some timeshare thing, so he loses $250 if he doesn't go. Barb is thinking of going with him and Loralie; i wouldn't have enough time to go for the week, but I might fly down and meet them if I can find decent airfaire (doubtful).

August: Myrtle Beach - I hate the drive, but its the closest place where we can use our timeshare points and stay on the beach.

October cruise on Anthem will wind up the year. Only 2017 cruise - I'll never catch CG at this rate!
Your summer intermarry is much more involved than ours. Have fun! Have a great time at DWTS (chuckle, chuckle)

Our plans include a kitchen gut and re-do. Starting to build the cabinets now. I just finished putting hardwood in the foyer and den. The kitchen will be the completion of the downstairs work.

We are currently in a city suburb of Memphis, south west corner of the state of Tennessee. Nashville is 200 miles away, center and north in the state, and Knoxville is 400 miles away, basically straight east of Nashville. Nashville and or Knoxville are much nicer places in the state than Memphis.......gangs, drugs, crime really bad here......Knoxville is also very close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

And, now one for you and cheap......our daughter and her family are leaving for an 18 days vacation to the north and east. They have plans for Kentucky, (visiting son in law's sister), then going to D.C., Baltimore, Philly, NYC, Connecticut, RI, Boston, VT, NH, Maine, back to NY, and across and into Canada...Niagara Falls again....

The grandchildren are most excited about NYC(first trip there) and going back to Niagara Falls. Our daughter has planned out pretty much every minute of every day! This is along with her goal to have them visit every state in the USA before Landon graduates from high school....he enters first year of high school this August. Next year's plan is an Alaskan cruise, and also renting a car and seeing Washington and Oregon. I'm unsure what other states they've missed, except Hawaii....She got the idea from me, since we took both our children to all but Ohio and Alaska when they were still vacationing with us. Her family has also been on a cruise, which we didn't do with our kids.

As for our summer plans....we are very busy working on getting our house ready to sell....then, we'll move into Mom's old house(ours now), and sell it and move to Florida. Very, very hopeful for a FedEx buyout announcement the end of September.....probably to begin first of the year. Cruise plan is July15 for our free Pinnacle cruise on Harmony. Possible other short weekend trip in August to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood.

Summer plans???HMm let's see. Get the stuff or at least some of it done around the house. Weather has NOT been cooperating with my deck plans as the deck was stripped but can't reseal it until I get a day without rain (preferably two). That will take the better part of a day. Spend time with the grandkids....charlie FINALLY started walking the day after father's day. Of course the pilgrimage to disney at the end of july. Wedding planning will then start to kick up in to high gear I am guessing. Trip at the end of september to collingwood for a week at the in-laws fractional ownership cottage. NOt sure if we will be painting and getting the house ready to sell now that DW has a retirement date of april 1 next year or not. WE definitely don't need the size of house we currently have and with her off and me still working the thought process is that maybe a smaller forever home near a lake with just a smaller home in the city here might be more advantageous.

Still thinking that a trip to thunder bay might be in the offing. Middle daughter's in-laws own a working amethyst mine up there that DW has been wanting to see for some time now so with the in-laws parents who own the mine approaching their 90s time may be running out. Other than that there will be the day trips to grand bend area to visit relatives and enjoy the water. Sadly as I mentioned before the prospects of a cruise in the near future seem to be all but an impossible dream.

Ramblings on several of the above:

CG: Reading that itinerary makes me think of the original Vacation movie where Clark grabs money out of the hotel cash drawer, wants to leave quick, and spends just a few seconds looking at the Grand Canyon. Some of those states will probably be quickies. And, make sure they do the Canadian side of the Falls - so much nicer than the US. If you take Rainbow Bridge to the US, all you see is a Casino and a bunch of food places with their names spelled out in foreign words.

Cheap & Sub: Being that I live in a church rectory, I don't do a lot of house repairs. I did manage to fix a running toilet by myself with an $8 part - that's about as handy as I get. We recently painted our tv room and bought some new furniture (church provides most stuff, but we like to have some of our own). Usually (and our church is no different), church rectories get ignored. We need new basement windows, but no one wants to spend the money. Also, i'd loved to build off our Dining Room, but its not my house to do so.

well house repairs and the like are done by yours truly ALWAYS hence the name cheapskate. I hate to pay anyone to do what I (and sometimes google ) can do by myself. So far that has worked out rather well. I guess the one instance where I draw the line is installing carpet but not much of that needs to be done anyway

Weather here has been crazy..not a day goes by without a thunderstorm or the like. Water levels are the highest they have been in 25 years and the constant rain makes it hard to get any outside work done. Had a hailstorm today that might have been the most vicious storm I have ever been in. It was absolutely crazy just how intense it was but it only lasted 5 or 10 minutes.

Still hoping for a cruise in the foreseeable future but not holding my breath. maybe one of those too good to pass up deals will come along.
