On Oasis Class, Which is your Favorite Deck

Recommended Posts

Yes, I know things like this are subjective. Looking at Ocean Balcony or Junior Suite (yes, I prefer Deck 17, was up there on Oasis in December). But on Symphony - can't afford CL this go around :)

So just looking for general thoughts and feelings. On Symphony Mediterranean next Spring.

Thank you in advance!

I'd say deck 9 now. I used to say deck 8, because of the proximity to Central Park, but I found the areas on deck 8 near the elevator lobbies warm and humid because of the doors to Central Park being open often. Deck 9 is close enough to Central Park to easily use the stairs.

Generic answer: Whatever deck is most conveniently located for the places you visit the most.

For me, probably 9 because it's in between Central Park and the Diamond Lounge and still fairly close to the Promenade (all of which matter more to me than the pool deck, windjammer, etc.) I also prefer the stairs to the elevator and will take them to any deck if I'm starting on 9.

Agree. I tend to avoid the Promenade during the day so I prefer deck 9 -11. Close enough to Central Park, DL, and not too far from the pool deck.

If not in a suite, we like deck 6 for these reasons:

  • same deck as Boardwalk / AquaTheater aft and Spa forward.
  • walk down one deck to the Promenade.
  • walk down one deck to walking / jogging track.
  • walk down two decks to Casino and Amber theater.
  • walk up 2 decks to Central Park.
  • walk down 1 or 2 decks to Main Dining Room.

So most of the time we do not need to bother with elevators and just take the stairs up down 1 or 2 decks for the majority of our activities. The exception is going to/from the pool deck 15.

Never been on Oasis Class. Do these ships have a "real" Promenade deck, meaning one that actually circles the entire ship. Nothing better than an evening stroll around the Promenade after dinner!.

It runs straight down the middle of deck 5 with shops, bars, cafe, pizza place, etc. on each side. It's bookended by the theater and the MDR so it doesn't run the entire length of the ship but it's certainly not small.

You can view the deck plan here: http://www.cruisecritic.com/oasis-of-the-seas-deck-plans/dp/?shipID=368&deck=5

They mean a "promenade deck" as defined as:

"The promenade deck is a deck found on several types of passenger ships and riverboats. It usually extends from bow to stern, on both sides, and includes areas open to the outside, resulting in a continuous outside walkway suitable for promenading, (i.e., walking) thus the name."

Deck 15 is probably the closest thing to what you are looking for.

I would say no.

There is an outside promenade, on deck 5. You can walk around the entire ship, however visibility to the outside is limited on the sides (due to lifeboats) and forward part, There is some visibility between lifeboats, but it's limited. Additionally, the width of the promenade is less than other ships we've been on, and it's taken up by the running track, so there are no chairs or loungers around the sides or forward part. The only part of the outside promenade that resembles the traditional outside promenade is the aft portion.

We enjoyed deck 6 as well for the same reasons and the fact that the price was slightly less. I enjoyed the aft rooms near the stairs: Close to the boardwalk, many bars, and most have no lifeboats below the balconies. Both deck 6 and 7 are similar and tend to have with less rooms at the back of the ship - less boardwalk side rooms.

I loved deck 10 on Allure- in between everything for my kids- boardwalk at deck 6 and kids club at 14. Now on Harmony we have connecting rooms this time so only available was deck 7 or 8. Went with deck 8 because of Central Park. My parents have booked this cruise and my fathers mobility issues will be better cutting through Central Park to go from from front- aft elevators as opposed to walking through halls of cabins.

As someone else said, it really depends upon where you're going to spend a lot of your time. We've stayed on deck 6 and it's convenient to many things. However, once we stayed on deck 8, that's been our favorite deck. We enjoy being in Central Park at all hours. It's also a convenient way to cut across the ship and avoid the crowds on the Promenade especially at night. People who like to spend time at the pools would probably enjoy a higher deck cabin.

We were on deck 8 forward on Allure - starboard side - on our cruise in March, and loved the location. We really liked being close to Central Park. Heat/humidity wasn't an issue for us - as it was pretty mild in early March.

Not been on one yet. Booked inside on deck 6 on Oasis and booked outside studio on deck 4 on Symphony.

Can't wait for either of them. I'm cruising!! [emoji568][emoji568]

As others have said, deck 6. It's within 2 decks of the ice rink, the theater, the jazz club, the comedy club, the casino, the dining room, the promenade, the spa, the boardwalk, central park, and dazzles. I don't think any other deck has that many things within such an easy walk.

The deck below the pool, I think it's deck 12. If we go to the pool or windjammer it's just one floor above us no need to wait for an elevator.

That would be deck 14 on Oasis class.
