Marinades, Spices, Sauces etc

What if you want to buy any of these items; spices or sauces, I'm talking if you were able to buy them from a reputable restaurant. But would it be a problem getting them on the ship and back home to the U.S.? And of course talking about unopened sealed products too.

Anyone ever done this? Was thinking about when we're in Jamaica and Mexico.

(Wasn't sure where to put this question ) :)

TIA

I try and buy "local" hot sauce wherever I go. I've never had a problem bringing it back on the ship or through customs.

(P.s, my favorite hot sauce has been from St. Maarten. It came in a definitely local made/packed bottle, but it was fantastic!)

Never had an issue. We buy from markets. We like a certain Italian seasoning from Campo di Fiori in Rome. DD brings back a kilo every time she returns home.

Have brought back many different spices from St. Maarten and vanilla from the Bahamas. I have heard that there could be problems with some whole seeds if they are looked at as agricultural products instead of food, but I have no idea which that would be.
