Bermuda in October

Hey all,

Is the water warm enough to swim in during late October? We're considering booking in September or October. I know the temp will probably be 70-80 but I keep seeing different numbers on water temps.

Also, how are the seas during those times. Does it depend on what is going on around the Atlantic with storms or can we expect choppy/calm? We cruised to Bermuda in July several years ago and it was probably my roughest cruise. Didn't bother me but my life partner felt it.

The water is definitely warm enough in October. As to weather and sea conditions, your guess is as good as mine. Last year in mid October our cruise from NY to Bermuda was so smooth you would have thought the ship had never left the pier in NY. On our return the ship had to leave Bermuda early because of a tropical storm, which needless to say meant a fairly rough ride home.

We sailed thru a tropical storm a couple of years ago - and the island was torn up when we got there. However - we are booked again this year - i want to see all that i didn't get to see then :) We cruise on Oct 15th and we will be in Bermuda the 18th - 20th.

Happy cruising!

Martha

I was in Trust - then retired and took up substitute teaching and one-on-one tutoring.

That's awesome, sounds like a rewarding way to give back in retirement. I've been considering trying to get out of what I'm doing and into finance or trust. Maybe I'll keep my head on a swivel while I'm in Bermuda and find an awesome opportunity - you never know!

Things are good in Ohio for the sport. Thoroughbred racing is going by the wayside however.

Here in NJ both the Thoroughbred and Standardbred industries have been on life support for years. All the surrounding states have casinos in the racetracks that provide substantial income for purse subsidies, but not NJ because the Atlantic City casino interests have refused to allow it. The lower purses means almost all the best horses go elsewhere to race, which of course also has a negative effect on our once-thriving breeding industry.
