Vancouver hotels

When are you cruising? We are sailing out on August 25th. We are staying at the Pan Pacific on Thursday night and booked the Cruise package rate. The hotel is connected to the cruise terminal and the rate includes breakfast for 2 in one of its restaurants plus they will collect your luggage and take it to the ship. All you have to do is walk on the ship.

Here are two Cruise Critic forums which will have a lot more information about 'everything Vancouver'!

Ports of Call - Canada (Alaska/Pacific Coast) -

West Coast Departures -

Don't base your hotel decision solely on the 'free shuttle to the pier' factor - a taxi ride from any of the downtown hotels will probably be under $10, so choose anything that looks good in your price range.

Vancouver Hotels are pricey and we used several travel sites. We booked Residence Inn in Downtown Vancouver for mid September for $218.00 per night. Most Vancouver Hotels do not have transportation. The taxi rates are very reasonable.

Searching for a reasonably priced hotel in Vancouver (if there is one)that has a shuttle from the hotel to the Port. Arriving day prior to cruise.:)

Providing you don't have a lot of luggage, an alternative is to stay at a cheaper airport hotel and skytrain to cruise terminal on embarkation day. Skytrain station is only one block from cruise terminal and very walkable. Pan Pacific is very nice but pricey.

Do you have access to Corporate rates through work? We do and we always stay at the Sutton Place which is about 6 blocks from Canada Place, right at Robson Street which is the shopping street in downtown Vancouver. (It's only 'reasonably priced' with the corporate or some other special rate.)

^+1 to this. Hotels with a shuttle are not charging you nothing to use it - they're jacking up their room rates! There are many walkable hotels other than the Pan Pacific - how far would you be happy to roll your suitcases along nice, wide, flat sidewalks? Stick any potential hotel into Google maps and see how far of a walk it would be from the pier - if you're willing to walk a mile then you'll have many options (and frankly given how slow traffic goes near the pier, whether a shuttle or a taxi walking might actually be faster!)

Best deal in the city remains the YWCA Hotel. Unless you feel the need for a fancy hotel it should be the first place you check availability for on your dates. $120 a night, all taxes etc. included, for a regular hotel room with private bath (even less for shared baths). Safe, clean, great location.

Village People agree with you about YMCA/YWCA. So do disco DJs on every cruise ship I 've been on.

One thing you might want to consider is how many ships will be in port on the day you embark. Traffic was a mess the day we embarked with three ships in port. Someone on our ship said they spent over $40 on their taxi from within the city because of the time spent waiting in traffic.
