ALL things Liberty of th Seas

Recommended Posts

thanks to Host Clarea, Internetwhiz and Wolfganhowell for their feedback. I am looking forward to the water slides. I also hope the line isn't too long to try the flowrider! I will also be curious to checkout the diamond lounge for afternoon happy hour.

... I will also be curious to checkout the diamond lounge for afternoon happy hour.

Also the cappuccino in the diamond lounge is really good and available all day. I think they close the machine late night for cleaning. I often mix in a packet of hot chocolate for a free mocha. Also, on my last cruise (March 2016), we not only got the drinks in the lounge each evening, but also had 3 free drinks each evening from any bar using our ship card. I always bring some dollar bills for tipping the bar staff on the free drinks, including the diamond lounge. I usually wait until Saturday to tip the diamond lounge concierge. You can get single dollars from the casino cashier if you run out.

I will be Periscoping from Liberty this Sunday and some this week. If you'd like to follow me, follow @internetwhiz.

Periscope is live video from the ship.

Has anyone taken water or cokes on board recently?

Also, are excursions in Jamaica dangerous as in walking around etc.?

We did a Jamaica Culinary Tour there last year and loved it. Led by 2 local guides, got to walk around Falmouth and see the area, and also sampled many different foods throughout the tour. Very enjoyable, and we felt very safe.

What a great thread.

Just a few questions to ask all you seasoned LOS cruisers:

Do you suggest making a standing reservation nightly for MTD? We've always done MDR and are tired of the 2 hours it takes to finish dinner. Will it be quicker in MTD? We'll be six and would like to eat approx. 7, no later.

Is there a corkage fee in the dining room? At one point I remember there wasn't?

Towel check out on the pool deck? Fee if not returned?

Last and the most important. Is there a mah jong game on board? :')

Thanks in advance!

For SplashAway Bay can the kiddos where puddle jumpers down the slides?

Also is there a Starbucks on board? I am interested in the beverage package mostly for the specialty coffees. When we were on Oasis we were able to get unlimited specialty coffees from Starbucks in our package but I am not sure if Liberty has this. I dont want to purchase the package and then find there is no Starbucks since this is where ill get this most use out of my package.

There is no licensed Starbucks venue on Liberty. Also, Royal has never had a package that included beverages at the licensed Starbucks venues on Oasis class ships.

The package does include specialty coffee beverages at Cafe Promenade and restaurants on Liberty. These venues may or may not use Starbucks beans, there's no way to know in advance.

If you want to be sure about the kinds of coffee beans used on Liberty, then wait until you are onboard so you can ask before you purchase the beverage package.

They can wear their puddle jumpers.

Royal also provides life jackets by the towel station small enough for those past diapers.

Pool towels last cruise had to be checked out. This is off and on again.

Since our last cruise they have reinstated the corkage fee.

Can't answer about games.

We always do a set time for dining. Second seating works for us with entertainment times.

This is a nice thought. I always tip the wait staff, but I haven't done this for the concierge. Thanks for the idea!

Limited alcohol choices until in international waters due to Texas Liquor laws.

Interesting aspect. I doubt it will make too much of a difference for us. The limitations must be about avoiding taxes by RCCL.

I believe the limited selection is due to Texas wonky laws requiring only sales of liquor purchased from local distributors while in port, or some facet of that. As a proud Texan, its one of the few things that makes me shake my head.

And don't forget no fruit or olives with your drink until you get out to sea. I couldn't get a lime with my vodka tonic.

Another stupid Texas law, also collecting taxs at end of cruise for any liquor you bought, I paid one time have just ignored them since
