Jury duty

Has anybody had any conflicts with calls for jury duty vs cruise reservations?

Not with a cruise, but I got called for jury duty with only 3 weeks notice once (the only time I have been called). That is impossible for me since I do surgery and had patients already scheduled. I just called the person in charge of the jury pool who let me pick another week in the future that was more convenient for me. They won't let you get out of it, but they will let you reschedule it for later.

The same is true in Los Angeles: if the date is not good for you the jury coordinator will just reschedule you. Not a big deal, happens all the time.

I have twice gotten out of jury duty because of a planned cruise. If you tell them your trip is nonrefundable and non cancelable they should just let you out.

Once you hit the magic number of 70, at least in Mass.you no longer have to serve...you can if you want to,

This varies by city/town.

But if you explain your situation I am sure you will be fine.

We have both been called when at sea. Our house sitter filled out the forms and we sent letters to the Judge. Rescheduled.

I concur with the above that you most likely can reschedule. In the worst case scenario do you have trip cancellation and interruption insurance. I have seen where some of these types of plans cover if you are called to jury duty.
