fly into IAH, stay at hobby?

Does it make sense to fly into IAH (much cheaper and better timed flights for us) but find a hotel at hobby? Galvaston looks pretty pricey for even some scary looking hotels...

are there more convenient cities along the way to galvaston we should look to stay? I just don't want the long drive from IAH the morning of the cruise... We are looking for a stay under $100 with breakfast.

Take a look at the Hampton Inn in League City; it's right on I-45. It won't be under $100 but we're booked there next month and with tax, it's about $120. League City is about half-way between downtown Houston and Galveston.

There are hotels in the Clear Lake area but are likely to cost more for the regular 'chain' properties.

Do you have a car? If so, drive all the way to Texas City and stay at a motel there. No car, stay at a place near IAH that has transportation between the motel and the airport and take the cruise line transportation to Galveston the morning of the cruise.

We're booked at the Super 8 Houston Hobby North for $85.
