Why are there so few roll calls for Silver Spirit?

Except for one cruise on Oceania, all of our recent cruises have been on Regent. We've now booked a cruise on the Spirit for 7/24/18, We looked for a roll call, and didn't find one. That was not surprising-we're nearly a year away from the cruise. What was surprising was that there are only 8 Spirit roll calls; and one is for the cruise next week, 8/25/17. Other than that, there are 7 roll calls with a total of only 12 participants. What's happening?

We would expect Regent roll calls to be quiet, considering that most excursions are included in the fare. The Oceania roll call was very active, mostly for posters to arrange private shore excursions. Joan did a walking excursion in Nova Scotia that arranged through the roll call and cost $2 per person, so she and her five companions ( I was on a different private excursion) saved a bundle over the ship's price of $110..

One would have expected similar excursion postings for Silversea; but that's not the case, even for the 8/25/17 cruise,

Can anyone explain why the Silver Spirit roll call board is so inactive?

SS is super small. Not much of the sailing population even knows about Cruise Critic. It's very rare to even see roll calls, and even rarer to find enough passengers for a Meet & Mingle.

Well-summarized comments and background by Stumblefoot and others about the smaller size of most Silversea ships. During the most recent roll call for our Lisbon to Rouen cruise, we did get a little response and some connection. BUT, that was not the case on two earlier cruises on the Silver Cloud. When most SS cruises are having only 200-500 passengers, your "odds" are less likely to get a larger number of posts/replies compared to doing a sailing on a ship with 2800 to 5000 passengers.

Lots of people do check and read Cruise Critic, but many are a little "shy" in doing posts, asking questions, venturing forward, etc. Is that normal human nature to do more lurking in the audience than getting out on the "stage"? Yes, but I would strongly encourage more people to jump in, have fun and ask good questions.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Lisbon, NWSpain, Bordeaux/Brittany: Just finished June 2017 sailing from Portugal to France along the scenic Atlantic Coast, plus great pre- and post-cruise experiences. Many interesting pictures and details on history, food, culture, etc., from my live/blog at:
