"LIVE" from Anthem of the Seas - Canada / NE - June 26, 2017

Recommended Posts

4 nights less but no flights from Quebec. Never been on a Q class yet, so this looks like a good chance to try it

I'd still go with Anthem. 9 nights is still a nice length & you could add a few days in NYC before and/or after the cruise. Plus less money and much newer ship!

Hello everyone . . . Welcome to DAY 1 of “LIVE” from Anthem of the Seas.

Last night after dinner was very relaxing, and I was able to watch some news shortly after my last post. I booked this Cruise about 6 months ago, and Cruising Day is here . . .

I am planning to arrive at Cape Liberty by around 10:30AM. My Boarding time has been scheduled at 11:30AM,

but I will check in sooner if allowed. The hotel is very close. I am at the Marriott Residence Inn (Near Jersey Gardens Mall). It should take about 20 min to get to the pier. The Hotel was very nice as Marriott has recently upgraded the hotel Lobby and Rooms.

The Breakfast here was very nice. The Coffee was ok, but Marriott Courtyard (next store) had some very delightful Starbucks coffee.

The weather outside is very nice. It is currently 68F but should warm up to 80F. There will be some clouds but sail away should be pleasant.

OK . . . I have my Set Sail Pass, my Luggage tags . . . I need to start packing.

My next post will be onboard the beautiful Anthem of the Seas before muster. Thanks for tuning in . . .

Hello everyone. . . I made it onboard Anthem of the Seas by around 11AM. It only took me about 20 min to drive here this morning as the traffic was not bad. I was able to stop by the 911 Memorial next to Cape Liberty to take a few pics. I dropped by bags off at the front of the terminal and made my way to the parking garage (next to the Passenger Terminal) The boarding process was very quick as I uploaded my photo to my Set Sail account(several weeks ago).

I was able to board the ship by just before 11AM. My first stop was to Café TWO70° and enjoyed a nice snack (and a fresh coffee). I was having a few issues with my server so I had trouble posting images for a while. . . Ooops.

Anthem of the Seas left at 4PM and went up the Hudson River for a bit to see the Statue of Liberty. We are now on the south side of Long Island heading east on our way to Bar Harbor.

I had Dinner tonight at Jamie’s Italian on Deck 5. . .I was able to use my Buy One, Get one promotion from Crown and Anchor (Diamond Plus)Mrs Radio chose Chops for tomorrow night.

I pre purchased the Classic Soda / Voom Package as there was a promotion that showed up for Memorial Day which was a good value. I have alot to see and only a few days to do it so here are a few pics from my arrival.Hopefully I won’t have any other server problems, and I will be able to send many more photos. . .

Thanks for all of the nice comments and thanks for tuning

Good Morning . . . Welcome to DAY 2 of “LIVE” from Anthem of the Seas. Today is our first day at sea and there are many things to do. I am sure that I will not be able to do everything. I want to try to get to the Bar Harbor and Halifax talk in the main showroom. I will also try to get to try the Bumper Cars, Roller Skating, and FlowRider. The forecast for today is sunny skies, with light clouds and mild temps (75F) It will get a little cooler as we head north but there shouldn’t be any rain.

I was able to spend a little time in the Casino Royale last night, and I think that it may be very Radio Friendly. . .I will try again later today but things seemed promising. I went to the Concierge Lounge last night and it was very busy but I guess that is expected during the comp drinks hours there.

My cabin is very nice and I slept like a baby last night as the beds were very comfortable. My connection speed on board has been very fast, and I think my server problems have been adjusted. I am still waiting forsome Crown and Anchor gifts to arrive, but maybe those items will show up today.

Good morning Radio. The early morning/sunrise pics are wonderful. I tend to get up early on cruises but rarely early enough to get those pics. Thanks for posting. Have a great day 2!

Good morning Radio! Thanks for the live review! I'm going on a 9 night NE/Canada cruise so looking forward to hearing the mini version here.

I am curious if you can share the tender experience at Bar Harbor. We have early morning RC shore excursion plans and I'm just wondering how they work it all out for those with excursion tickets.

Hopefully you have a beautiful day!

Good morning Radio,

This is bringing back memories - In October, my beloved and I celebrated our 25th anniversary on the 9 night Canada New England cruise. Sadly, winds meant we were unable to get off at Bar Harbour, so I look forward to vicariously visiting through this thread.

For those interested, I did a review (not live), link in my sig.

Have a ball sir!!

Thanks for taking the time to do this review! We had a regular balcony cabin last year and found it very comfortable and the shower had been redesigned and much larger so you can actually move your arms up to wash your hair!

What cabin number are you in? (you can say at the end if you want to for privacy) I love your balcony!!!

I just got off Anthem yesterday from their 4 night Cruise to Bermuda. It was brutally hot there! You'll have a great time on the Canada trip!

Everything on board the ship was great! The only negatives I had were the bagels were extremely dense and the waffles were kinda doughy. But the bakers do a fantastic job with the breads and the MDR staff are terrific and the food is also very good 5 star service at the MDR and beteween 4 and 5 star quality for the food. The Windjammer will always have something that suprises you.

Waffles are available at the WindJammer (buffet) over by the omelet station and in front of the Asian breakfast items. That would be the part of the windjammer on the rear (aft) and left side (starboard). I recall they are sometime near the strawberry pancakes and french toast too.

They are round, about 4 inches diameter x 1 inch thick with a lacey pattern, not the usual square grid. Taste like they made them with a crepe batter, so they are very dense and doughy. Not to my taste. I usually prefer a light fluffy, crisp waffle. However, if I were carbing up for a marathon or after a heavy workout, I'm sure these would taste great!

Good afternoon Radio,

What a beautiful balcony you have! We have a balcony just below the hump on our Anthem October cruise. Was wondering if yours is comparable to cabin 9660. So enjoy reading your posts. Fair winds and calm seas!!!
