vaccinations for Asia

No vaccinations are required.

We always make sure the following vaccinations are up to date:

Flu

Tetanus

Hepatitis A

For travel in Asia we have also gotten Typhoid Vaccination.

My advice is to consult with your physician or ideally a physician who specializes in Travel.

In the USA I use the CDC web site and I can put in what travel we are doing and then a country at a time to get their recommendations.

CDC stands for Center for Disease Control.

Thanks for the info.

I will see what I can find out here then. I have never had any vaccinations so must have go get a tetanus one and maybe the Hep 2 one as well.

I would definitely add Hep B vaccination for everyone.

The good news is, in most cases Hep A and B are combined into the same vaccine.

BUT, realize that Hep vaccinations are a series of 3 shots, and it takes 6 months to complete the series. If you are traveling before 6 months, do start the series, as there is some immunity with the first shot.

Series is 0, 1 month, 6 months. So if you have more than a month, you can get the first two shots.

But as mentioned, CDC pages are a good place to get info.

The vaccinations vary, depending on your destination(s). You should consult with your primary care physician, however not all primary care physicians will administer the vaccines, therefore he/she may refer a physician that specializes in travel vaccines. The website for the CDC is also an excellent source for current information.

I had 1 series of Tetanus and 3 series of Hepatitis A/B. It was my understanding at the time that if I did not get the 2nd or 3rd series of Hep A/B within the recommended time frame, I would have to start the series again.
