Carnival Gift Cards and Receipts?

I have several AARP Carnival gift cards and one Kroger bought Carnival gift card. I have all receipts and I remember someone telling me to hold onto them. My cruise is in 2 weeks and I'm getting all documentation together to bring with me. Do I need to bring the gift card receipts with me for any reason?

No. They will only need the GCs (actually just the numbers and PINs off of them). Some people have been told to hang on to the GCs after they are applied as money could be refunded to the card, but that is incorrect. The GCs are not reloadable and they would issue a new GC. However, make sure you get a receipt and check it when they apply them to make sure they were put on the right account.

There's been a lot of reports of fraudulent gift cards out there. Though one I've heard of from the 2 vendors you mentioned, the bilk of reports have been about auction and after market re-sellers.

But do bring the receipts with you. If there is any dispute about the amount on the card, the original purchase receipt will help immensely with Carnival researching transaction history.

Carnival does not research the issue in most cases...it is the original place of purchase that would research....

Hang to the receipts in case one or more of them just happens not to work...this happen to me last December on the Magic. Had 5 $100 GC to put on S&S account, one of them came up with 0.00 money on it. I had purchased it at Lowes Home store, after cruise took card and receipt back to them, they reimbursed me directly with cash that day. They had mentioned that if I had not had the receipt with me then they would have had to do an audit back to the day it was bought etc as it was not activated at the store...could have been several weeks before reimbursed....keep your receipt....

I have a question? If I don't use all of the gift card that I put on my s&s how do I get the refund?

Technically, it is refunded to a new gift card sent to you after the cruise. I, personally, cash all of mine out in the casino on the last night.

Alittle off topic but does anyone know if I can use regular visa gift cards for my sign and sail account ?I get 6% cashback from Amex at grocery stores and my acme doesn't carry Carnival cards anymore.

I don't think you can apply a set amount from a credit card to your S&S account. So you can't take a credit card to the pursers desk and say to charge $100 against it. They want to just have the card on there as a backup for charges. They also then preauthorize the card. Their preauthorization may be higher than the value of the card and thus it will decline. Kind of like trying to use them at restaurants where they preauthorize for gratuity. Prepaid Visa and Mastercard gift cards are a real PITA.

We always put our credit card up for our sign and sail bill then put carnival cards up to lower the bill as we go. I was wondering if it would be the same for visa cards. For example we put our Amex up then we say gamble $300 ,I'll go to the pursers desk and give them a $500 card to lower my bill.We do that all the time with Carnival gift cards but I've never tried regular gift cards

We keep all our card numbers and receipts. We actually keep the physical cards with us and leave the digital in our email where we can retrieve if needed. There are several non-refund reasons to keep them and we keep them until we get home and our final charges are all accounted for.

I have purchased a couple of Carnival gift cards for an upcoming cruise. This will be my first time using a Carnival gift card. I am assuming that I can use them for any bills incurred on board including automatic gratuities?
