Do Owners Suite Guests Still Dine With the Captain?

Just curious if they still do.

We did a (AZ Journey) cruise 5 years ago and had the suite and dinner with Capt. Johansen one evening (along with other suite guests).

I guess my answer is not necessarily. It does depend upon the length of cruise, but don't forget you have the Best of the Best meal and I think for the sake of mixing it up for others you may not get an invite to an individual table with the Captain. Depends upon him of course.

Rereading your post I think I misunderstood. Yes, they do still do a dinner for all the big suites and selected VIPs, called Best of the Best.

Yes the Best of the Best dinner with the Captain, Staff Captain, Chief Engineer and Hotel Director still exists. It's hosted in the library. CW and CO Suites are invited. The harpists have been cost cut off the ship about 2 years ago; its piped elevator music these days.

Been to the Best of the Best 3 times, but the Captain was never there. It was a great dinner and did not need the Captain to be special. On the other hand, the Captain can be found circulating the ship and appearing at various group meetings. He is very much around. Very different than on most other lines where you never see the Captain.

Very unusual, all the Best of the bests I have been to have had four officers present and always the Captain. I do agree though you will also see the Captain all the time around the ship and on the gangway each morning

We've been to four or five, always with Captain. Magnus will be there this coming Thursday. Wonder which Captain it was that didn't or couldn't go?
