How Dressy on Explorer to Antarctica?

Anything goes, really. Think super casual and comfortable expedition wear. Some (most?) folks don't even shower and re-dress for dinner, particularly if their excursions are running late.
But very few tank tops, shorts and flip-flops will be worn:rolleyes:

Thom

(who did go swimming in Antarctica:eek:)

Not dressy, not even "smart casual." Just comfortable. It's an expedition. :)

In case it may be of interest or help to you, my comprehensive journal (with plenty of photos) of our trip to Antarctica on the Explorer several years ago is here:

Have an awesome time!

I just ran across this thread today and read your journal. It is so well written and the pictures are all beautiful and some are absolutely spectacular. Antarctica has always been on my bucket list, but I am afraid I am no longer up to it physically. Your journal and pictures were the next best thing to being there myself. Thanks for the great effort you put into it.

I don't mean to be presumptuous but...

If you've got the money, have a re-think about not being up to it physically.

I don't know your situation.

I do know mine.

I didn't walk well at all (bad reaction to a vaccine at eight months old... left side of body pretty wrecked) and I got on shore every time. No hikes for me, but no problem getting on, walking around a little.

Another operator, Hurtigruten, has an even better way to load the zodiacs... no stairs. They've gotten people onshore in wheelchairs.
