Carnival Imagination Catalina Island

Recommended Posts

We've enjoyed renting a golf cart and touring around the town, driving up the hill to the wrigley botanical gardens. It's all walkable as well, if you're in shape and enjoy that.

We cruised to Catalina last year on the Imagination. After tendering from the ship, we took the Catalina bus up to the Wrigley Gardens ($1 per person and well worth the money!) to begin the "Garden to Sky Loop" hike. We paid the admission to the gardens, filled out our paperwork for the free hiking permit and walked to the Wrigley Memorial at the rear of the gardens where the hike begins. The loop, which ends at the Hermit Gulch Campground is about 4 miles and I would rate it moderate-to-slightly strenuous due to the change in elevation. The views over the island were well worth the effort!

After walking back to town (although you could pay for the bus again), we played some mini-golf, strolled around the exterior of the historic casino and stopped for ice cream in town as we checked out some of the shops. (BTW, my companion had done the tour of the casino on a previous visit and said it wasn't really worth what they charge for the tour.)

If you enjoy hiking, I highly recommend this one!

Renting a golf cart was expensive, so we rode the bus which makes a nice loop. The wrigly memorial is gorgeous as is the botanical garden. The Catalina museum had a dale chihuli art glass exhibit that was beautiful. Small museum but lovely and some Catalina history as well. We enjoyed coffee and ice cream from scoops.
