I'm from Aust

Where a family of 6 (2 adults and 11,10, 7 and 1 year old) planning our 1st cruise as our next holiday

at this stage where looking at 2019 or there about's (due to work/study ect)

and thinking a Carnival Cruise to Pacific Islands

there's 2 I've looked at so far and thinking of those?

Jan 2019 From Sydney but ends in Melb 8 Days on the Legend

Oct 2019 To and from Sydney for 7 days on the Spirit

Here the issue where in Vic so will need flights to Sydney (plus possibly accom for the night before/after)

and for 6 that add's up $$$

we looked at one in Jan 2019 from Melb but its the week school goes back with the eldest starting high school so scraped that idea as i dont want him missing the 1st week

but the one from Sydney that finises in Melb is during school holidays so is do able

I've compared both and cost wise there isn't much difference (under $200) once you factor airfares

Jan one is a bit more for the cruise but only 1 flight and Oct is cheaper cruise but 2 flights so they end up being about the same cost wise

which one would you do? which would be better season/time to travel?

thanks

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

You may also want to post in the dedicated Carnival forum, where you may reach some folks who have taken the exact itineraries you are considering:

You may also find reviews of those itineraries in that forum.

Good luck and Bon Voyage.:)

By the time you fly to Sydney and add on a night or two in a hotel, Princess out of Melbourne might be cheaper.
