Escape?

Hi Everyone

I am considering the Escape out of Miami for an Eastern Caribbean cruise. It would be me, my husband and our 9 year old son. I am hesitant because I prefer the mid-size ships to the mega's, but that is why I'd like some reviews. Also we are not cruise experts by any means. We have only sailed 3 times as of now...once with Royal Caribbean and twice with Carnival; so NCL is new to us as well. How is this line for the kids? Do the kids clubs separate by age? I'd love to hear from anyone who has sailed this ship before on all topics from pools to dining to entertainment (both for kids and adults).....Looking forward to hearing from you all....Also if you choose the drink and specialty restaurant as your promo...does this include everything or are there restrictions?

Escape is NCL's best ship for families...until Bliss is completed.

Kids are grouped by age.

With the UBP, drinks $15 and under are covered. You pay the difference on the amount over $15 plus 18% on that difference.

SDP includes 1 entree and apps, sides, and dessert. The limit is 1 entree.

Some restaurants are SDP plus an upcharge. Food Republic doesn't take SDP as it is a la carte only.

I was on the Escape a few months ago with my 8 and 10 year old. Here is a link to the thread I used to talk about it while I was on board.

I've sailed with Royal, NCL, and Disney. Hands down, Disney has kids club DOWN!! It's second to none. From a 9 year old perspective, NCL is not going to measure up to Disney. I'm not a fan of the Kids Club on Royal at this age. I can say, though, after the kids are old enough for teen club, any line is good. At the teen age, the kids are more self-sufficient as far as activities go. And, the lines do a great job with scavenger hunts for the teens!!

My 2 cents
