  1. 1. HOW MUCH WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO PAY FOR "ALL INCLUSIVE" (ALCOHOL EXCEPTED)?

    • $100 PER PERSON
    • $200 PP
    • $300 PP
    • I WOULD NOT PAY EXTRA, I LIKE IT THE WAY IT IS
    • I WOULD ONLY PAY FOR ALL INCLUSIVE IF IT INCLUDED ALCOHOL

So, how much extra would you be willing to pay for a cruise that was "all inclusive"? And for this poll, I'm not including drinks. How much so that the extra fees were not included for the specialty restaurants (Chops, Portofino's), no cover charge for JR's, Ben & Jerry was free and sodas were all included?

Please select the highest you would be willing to pay.

Not a darn cent if drinks aren't included. All you're asking for is to pay for what the cruise lines have taken away over the last several years. The things that you mentioned don't amount to a hill of beans.

Now if you want to think about all alcoholic beverages included, then you may have something, but as your poll stands now, it really doesn't mean a thing. IMHO

What isn't included that I would like or that I would expect to see covered? - soft drinks, bottled water, and juice. What drinks are available at no charge is a bit skimpy.

The other stuff - well I can understand why RCCI charges. The soft-serve ice cream gratis was nice when it lasted - but there were enough abuses that I can understand why they cut it out.

Service charges for the speciality restraunts makes sense - if there was no additional charge the demand would be too great and there would be too many abuses (what RCCI experienced with Johnny Rockets for example). Are the existing charges at the right level - I don't really know. The JR charges are a bit much IMHO, Portifino & Chops charges don't seem too bad.

I don't drink alcohol other that the occassional glass of wine. If RCCI were to include all alcoholic beverages, the cost to cover other people's drinking would not appeal to me.

All inclusive food, I wouldn't pay for. It already almost is (with the exception of specialty restaurants). I would pay for an alcohol "package" for lack of a better word, like I hear they did some years back. I'm not a huge drinker, so "all inclusive" usually ends up being not worth my money, but I do like a drink before or after dinner sometimes. We looked into an all inclusive for our next trip (the one that now looks like it will be another cruise, and I think I would have had to maintain a good heavy buzz the whole week to get my money's worth! No thanks. It would be nice, though, to be able to pay up front for maybe 10 drink "credits" that I could use throughout the voyage.

Good points on both. A fountain soda probably costs them all of about 5-10 cents. Charging $1.50 for it is a bit much. If McDonald's can give free refills when I order my $1.00 burger, surely a cruiseline could spring for it when I've shelled out over a grand for a cruise?? I totally agree about JR, too. If the same burger can be had in the Windjammer for free, why pay? I could see charging for shakes and sodas, because they're drinks that are not included in the cruise price, but burgers, fries, and rings should be. Chops and Portofino are fine dining experienes, and I wouldn't mind paying for them, but JR is fast food, from all I've heard.

Juice is free. You can get juice for free at the WJ, DR, and through room service any time of the day. You may or may not be able to get that at the bars (I'm not in the bars much except the casino and I usually don't get juice there). Basically sodas and alcohol are charged for.

AFAIK, the soft serve ice cream in the WJ is still there and free. They only charge for the B&J which they have to pay extra for at name-brand costs.

The JR fee was actually not charged to make a profit, but to try to restrict the number of patrons at a time. They had parties (especially teens) that would go in, take a table, order food that they only ate some of and sit and hog the table for a couple of hours while you had other patrons waitin an hour or more for a table. The fee was included to try and keep the number of people coming to JR's down. Perhaps a time limit for a table? But that would probably not be popular either...imagine being only half done with your dinner and told you had 5 minutes to finish and leave?

The soda is based on a concession price paid to Coca-Cola. And from what I understand, they pay more for the concession than land-based restaurants do. And you don't pay separately for burgers, fries, or rings in JR's. You just pay a $3.95 cover charge per visit. The shakes are extra, but they are extra no matter where you go on ship.

OJ is "free" at WJ at breakfast. They sometimes have other juice choices. If you order a juice at any bar, you pay.

The softserve machines are hit-and-miss on the different ships; and are becoming much more "miss" than "hit" if you look across the entire fleet.

As far as the service charges at the restraunts - I still think $3.95 per person at JR is simply not worth it. I understand why they need to institute a service charge, but hey, in my opinion JR is not worth it - and I vote with my feet. I prefer the ships without JR, because the other casual dining restraunt (can't remember the name - up past adventure beach on the Radiance) has food I much prefer and no cover charge.

Hmmm...obviously, I've only ever gotten juice through room service or at the WJ at breakfast. Can you order juice at lunch at the WJ? Never tried...just curious.

I only looked for ice cream once on the Jewel last month. It was at lunch and it was operating the only day I tried, so I figured it was there everyday.

The other casual dining restaurant is the Seaview Cafe and it is only on the Radiance class ships. It's wonderful and I bet much better than JR's anyways.

Actually I feel that $3.95 for a burger of two quarter pound fresh meat patties, fries, onion rings and apple pie is a real bargain. And the meat is juicy and not dried out as they are at the Windjammer and those frozen patties. Everyone is entitled to their own choices.

Can't have All-Inclusive without alcohol, what would be the point:D .

Having said that, our Voyager sailing of Mar. 5 had a small corp. group (about 80) onboard and they were All-Inclusive, all booze, drinks, alt. restaurants, the whole shebang. The identification is a square red sticker on the Seapass. I have no idea what the charge was for this and my guess is it is never offered to the "retail" cruiser. Would be interesting to find out how much this would cost.

If alcoholic drinks were included, I would quit doing business with that particular cruise line. I can't stand being around drunk people. Unlimited drinks would cause some to become way out of control.

If you use it you pay, if you dont you wont. We like Myers Dark floated on top of our Pina Coloda's, guess what it cost more.

Are things like they were when we did the 1st season on the Empress in '90 ? No. But the cost has not sky rocketed with inflation either. I can get just as fat and happy as a pig with the meals that come with the cost of my ticket.

As stretch the crouching tiger said````````inc booze`````lets talk.

Bob I have friends that just won a Nat sales Contest at their job, a cruise. The Company is paying for everything even tours. The sticker on the card tells the Front desk who to send their final bill to. So it is all inclusive to them, BUT, it is being paid for by their Corp Office. Not included in the price of the cruise ticket.

I'd be interested in liquor cards, similar to the pop cards. But, I think extras like JR and the like are fine if they are extras. I don't like JR much on land so I don't expect to crave it too much by sea, either ;) And if I wanted total all inclusive of everything, I think I'd go lay on a beach somewhere in Mexico at an all-inclusive resort, instead of cruising. :)

There are already cruise lines that do include alcohol.

Take it a step further on the alcohol concept...what are your expecations? Do you want a house brand or a premium brand liquor? You won't get the top shelf liquor and that will start a whole new dilemma IMHO...what does one cruiser consider an all inclusive alcohol barand and what does another?

For wines.....what is the wine offered? And some people don't like soda out of a gun, they like the bottle or can.

FWIW I am still prefering to pick and choose and pay for exactly what I want. I have no desire to have an all inclusive program introduced on this cruise line.

I saw a post a while back from a person that use to book corporate travel groups. As I recall he said that if the group is over 50 people they can get an all liquor included package. There were a couple prices based on call or premium brands. Everyone in the group would have to be included and I believe it started at 50 per person per day.

Folgy - there are plenty of lines offering the "exclusive" no babies/kids feature you're seeking. Try HAL for one. Surely you don't think RCI would offer a no babies/kids cruise considering their family-oriented features?

Couldn't have said that better myself! There is way too much drinking going on already. I want to relax on vacation, but others have other ideas (i.e. a week of drinking). To each his own, but I don't want to be bothered by drunk people all week long.

Cruises are supposed to be all inclusive aren't they? I find it annoying that they charge fees for Johnny Rockets, the specialty restaurants, and even the Ben & Jerry's now. Honestly, especially in the case of the Ben & Jerry's, I'd rather they not have it at all if they are going to charge for it. Cruises aren't cheap and things like this are just annoying.
