I am watching CNN this evening, and was treated to an expensive ad from NCL - Regent’s parent company. But when is NCL sailing, and under what rules? The ad didn’t address such things. We are among those who fear that NCL and Regent and all the NCL companies will go broke and never cruise again. We don’t want this, but we fear it. And we don’t like companies paying big bucks to advertise things that are not immediately for sale and available. Isn’t that false advertising? Isn’t that a waste of money by a company we all hope will survive, but may not? Watching the TV ad was like there is no CDC no sail order, no cruise bans on many popular ports and countries, and no pandemic. Unfortunately, we have those things, and NCL’s ad ignores them. NCLH, and the entire cruise industry, may be in grave financial condition. Though we hope it can emerge, we know that expensive and misleading advertising is not the way.

We have just booked our first cruise on Regent, for August 2022.

I see that Regent does not charge for gratuities, but do passenger tip? We have sailed Holland America often and we tip selected staff members based on our experience with them while in the cruise. Are those kinds of tips common on Regent?
Hi, We've never sailed a luxury line but are about to book a Concierge cabin on the Mariner Sept 2022 for a 12 night Alaska cruise . We've sailed several mass market cruise lines plus premium ones, Oceania and Azamara. We thought we'd step it up to luxury to see if we enjoy it. However I've been trying to figure out which line to book; Regent or Silversea. We do like the smaller, intimate ships. I tend to look for value. We're leaning towards Regent because, while they're more expensive, it appears as if they may be a better overall value.

The Regent reviews I've read are mixed. Not knowing the authors or their tastes, it's hard to tell if they're being objective or a nitpicker. Would anyone like to share their opinion please? Thankx.

Hi, we are looking at booking a Regent cruise in summer, 2022. We have been sailing on Celebrity in their suites but have also sailed on Seabourn a couple of times. I've been on over 40 cruises and my wife and I have done 21 cruises since 2011. We are looking at a cruise on the Voyager leaving from Iceland and ending up in either Copenhagen or in London. Regent says on their web site they include business class flights for suites. Is this all of them or only the more expensive ones? Will they allow you to fly in early to spend some time in our case in Iceland before boarding the cruise or do you have to fly the day you will board the cruise? While I am not an alcoholic, I do enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail. From what I can tell Regent includes those in their fares. Do they also include bottled water? My wife drinks a lot of water for her health and we have begun buying beverage packages on Celebrity but only if they include unlimited bottled water. One of the things we really liked about our 2 Seabourn cruises was how good their housekeeping and dining room staff were. How does Regent's compare for those of you who have done both?

I know this is a lot of questions but this will probably be only the first of many if we decide to book.

	Have a great next cruise.

I'm starting this thread in the hopes that Host Dan may allow this to become a sticky. It is difficult to keep track of which airline is being used and in what part of the world. For instance, United was Regent's choice in South America. This is apparently no longer the case (at least not from Rio to Miami, Dallas or Vancouver). They are using Delta and U.S. Air.

I learned last month (March, 2013) that, in addition to a deviation fee, if you opt for American Airlines in South America, there is a fee of $1,000 per person (the same is true of passengers requesting British Airways in Europe). While these fees are in effect now, they may not be six months from now.

I'll start by listing routings for our last two cruises:

December, 2012 - Vancouver to Delhi - British Airways from Vancouver to London. BA - London direct to Delhi (note: paid $2,000 fee for BA) Bali to Vancouver - Cathay Pacific from Bali to Hong Kong. Hong Kong to Vancouver (note: did not deviate)

March/April, 2013 -Vancouver to Miami - Air Canada from Vancouver to Toronto. Air Canada from Toronto to Miami. Barcelona to Vancouver - British Airways from Barcelona to London. British Airways from London to Vancouver.

Searching for flights - November, 2013. Rio to Vancouver.

I'm a previous NCL and HAL cruiser who is about to take the plunge with Regent. My parents and my husband and I are in the process of booking a Baltic cruise on the Voyager next August. I just know it's going to be wonderful -- and probably spoil me for ever traveling a discount line again.

We've been told by booking agents that if we use the name of a previous Regent passenger as a referral, both we and they can get an onboard credit.

Is anyone familiar with this referral program? And, if any previous Regent cruiser is willing to share their name/referral with us, please send me a message.

I'm sure I'll become a regular on the Regent Seven Seas board here as we plan and get ever more excited about next year's cruise. I'm already eagerly reading all of the current and previous live posts from our ship.

I have been carefully reading the threads on the Regent and I am puzzled: It seems like the introduction of vaccines to cruising should be a much bigger game-changer than some of things I have been reading would indicate. It seem like maybe we are missing something.

Given the fact that the two mRNA vaccines have tremendous benefits in dramatically reducing death and illness and the J&J vaccine has a 100% track record for eliminating hospitalizations altogether, why aren’t we thinking more positively about a restart? If we went back in time to a pre-Covid period and there was a disease out there that was pretty contagious but not very serious (i.e. not fatal and not requiring hospitalization) do you think cruising would be shut down? I don’t think so. Cruise lines would manage the situation much like they do with noroviris, influenza and other rather common diseases. BTW—I am NOT saying Covid is the same as the flu—but with vaccines, its effects on vaccinated people might be considered in a similar vein. With beefed up medical staff on board, isolation options, plans for disembarking sick passengers and rigorous testing protocols, Covid seems like it could be managed and still make for an enjoyable experience.

I realize that there is the still unanswered question of whether the vaccines prevent transmission, but if everyone on a cruise is vaccinated, I am not sure it matters much to those on the ship. The virus basically has no where to go and will die out. I don’t even see much reason to require masks on board. Because vaccines aren’t 100% effective in preventing Covid, anybody going on a cruise will need to acknowledge that there is a risk they may get sick (as they should anyway), but the illness they experience shouldn’t be anything like pre-vaccinated Covid and should be entirely manageable.

There is the question of what will countries think of having vaccinated cruise ship guests arriving on their shores. For the next year or so (until they can vaccinate a large majority of their populace) they may require social distancing and mask wearing while ashore. I could live with that. But will they totally exclude cruise passengers? Again, I don’t think so. Many countries seem eager to restart their tourism industries. And will vaccinated cruise passengers really pose any more of a threat to their citizens than their own people?

Maybe it is I who am missing something. I would love to hear what others on this board think of these ideas.

Naturally very disappointed today to hear our March cruise on Voyager has been cancelled.

But also disillusioned to hear that Regent are not offering any compensation whatsoever for this cancellation.

Regent changed out final payment date from October to January and as a result we have not made our final payment.

Had they not extended the final payment date, we would have paid in full and qualified for the 25% future cruise credit. Now we have just been offered a refund of our deposit!

As regular Regent cruisers at Gold Level, we feel let down.

Hopefully we will be spending a few days in Dubai prior to our Jan 2022 cruise from Cape Town to Cape Town. We decided that flying Emeritus would be a real treat and we can fly business class from Houston, Texas non stop to Dubai. We decided while there to spend a few days seeing the city so I am looking for suggestions for Hotels and Private tour guides to use while there. Of course we all know this is dependent upon covid being somewhat under control and cruising resuming. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Sooo looking forward to cruising again as reaching the age of 76 those punch list places need to be addressed real soon.

	Hi CC folks!

I was wondering if you can book more than one shore excursion for a single port. Some of the Caribbean ports will be beach type days for us and there seem to be some different excursions we might like to enjoy. For example, I see that I can do a snorkel rental, parasailing, maybe stand up paddle. Since these are all about one-hour activities, we may want to enjoy all three (sorry, is that greedy 😁?).

In the PDF version of the excursions, it does have the excursion start times, so of course I would need to coordinate with that. And some, such as the snorkel rental, appear to be "join anytime."

What has been your experience? I'm still a bit away from the ability to reserve excursions and wanted to get prepared.

	Thanks!

	Hi all

Advice and perhaps some reassurance required. Not a big issue, but would appreciate your thoughts as RSSC newbie here.

Booked onto a Caribbean cruise on the Splendor in Feb 2022 in a Concierge suite.

Shore excursions opened last Wednesday (Feb 3) and being in the UK (and new to Regent), we picked our shore excursions choices beforehand and got up at 6 am to book them (1 am EST) not knowing if this is something one has to do to secure the most popular excursions.

The shore excursion link worked, but no excursions listed in each port (see picture below). Anyway, we thought nothing of it and went back to bed. We called Regent later that day and was told there is a known glitch in their system and the most likely reason is because we had taken advantage of their 2-category upgrade offer so the system thinks we're booked into a Superior suite rather than a Concierge suite, even though our booking clearly shows our cabin category and the correct excursion and dining booking dates.

The RSSC agent said they couldn't help and there was no 'back-end' way of securing our choice excursions. Their IT department were "working tirelessly" and we should have just booked concierge or higher if excursions were important to us (WHAT?).

Fast forward to this week (Tues Feb 9). Tried to get an update, but they didn't have one. A different agent said they would e-mail Miami for one. She later e-mailed to say it would be available to book from Feb 17 (exactly two weeks from the time we were supposed to be able to book excursions).

Looking through previous posts, I'm fully aware that even if our first choices have gone, we can go on the waitlist which is likely to clear closer to the time. However, my experience so far with Regent has not been great.

What would have been great customer service would be to say "we understand your frustration and as it is not your fault you haven't been able to book the excursions of your choice, we would guarantee your options even if that means putting on additional capacity." or something similar.

Anyone else experienced this, or are we just special?

	Ok, rant over. :-)

I want to make sure i understand how the two category upgrade works in practice. For instance, i am looking at a December 7, 10 day sailing from Miami on the Splendor. The price for a Superior Suite F1 is $6,049 pp. If I book that, do I get a Concierge Suite D for the same price? It seems like I do, or is the price already built in such that without the promotion the F1 would cost more?

	Thanks!

I have booked two cruises -- one in a Superior Suite for a short Caribbean cruise in December 202 and Penthouse Suite for a longer Asia cruise in March 2022.

	1. What options do I have to upgrade both cabins as I get closer to sailing?

	2. What is the best time to seek an upgrade?

	3. Do I try to upgrade through my travel agent or attempt to contact Regent directly?

	Thanks much for your advice.
