	One evening (so long ago!) I put on my dark green dress and nude shoes.  Walked into the atrium, right past a woman, 20 years my junior, wearing the same dress and shoes.  We shared a chuckle about our "excellent taste".  Walked into the elevator lobby, saw a third woman, 40 years my junior, in the same dress and shoes.
</p>

<p>
	On another cruise, we stepped out of our cabin as the man across the hall stepped out of his.  He and DH looked at each other.  They were wearing exactly the same shirt, with black trousers and black slip-on shoes.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	We've seen a couple who dress alike (or complimentary) every night, and two sisters who dressed alike for an entire cruise.
</p>

<p>
	What have you seen?

	Have a really dumb question.  When you take a cruise, do you bring your electronic toothbrush with you?  We have been taking longer cruises and I would feel more comfortable having it with me but it seems like somewhat of a hassle.

	It has now been over a year since I bought new undies.  It would be nice to have something new, but department stores don't exist, malls are empty, and the stores that do exist frequently don't have dressing rooms open.

<p>
	I buy lots of things (vitamins, movies) online, but I can't imagine doing so for underwear, even if the company allows returns.

<p>
	Since no one is going to talk about cruises and hair and makeup and cruise fashions for awhile, I thought we could have some fun here.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If you are under quarantine/self-isolation, would you still put on all your makeup and put on "going out in public' clothes?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'll go first.  I am in self-isolation because of a "community spread" issue here in my town (bar bouncer tested positive - hasn't been anywhere, but handled hundreds of IDs of tourists at the Front Door and greeted hundreds of tourists at the Front Door).    I'm a minimalist anyway with makeup, but I'm going naked face except for some moisturizer.  I'm using hand lotion as my poor hands have been ravaged by all the hand sanitizer I had to use at work until we lost our jobs.  I don't dress decently when I'm in my house, so I'm not going to do it now.  I took out my trash cans to the curb yesterday in my pajamas, Uggs (still snow on my driveway) and uncombed hair.  Not ashamed...
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So, what about you?

	I carry a small crossbody purse around the ship with me. I never know what to do with it at dinner (or any other meal). I’ve tried hanging it from the chair but that never works, so I usually wear it. There has to be a better solution. (Leaving it behind in my stateroom isn’t an option). What do you do with your purse at dinner?

<p>
	I have short hair.  It needs to be cut at least every 4 weeks, or one side of my head looks like a ski slope.  It's clippered on the sides and back, and longer on top.  If it gets too long I look like, well, as my husband puts it, "you put your head in a clothes dryer on fluff dry cycle".  My head just keeps looking bigger and bigger and bigger.  Great if you live in Texas in 1965; not so good CA in 2020.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So, I finally worked up the nerve to cut it myself.  It took me 2 weeks to finally be brave enough.  I figured, "I've watched someone cut my hair for 45 years, so I can do this".
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I cut the top just fine, using straight manicur scissors.  I still don't have the nerve to go at the bottom with the clippers, but I will have to.  I'll look like I have a mullet in a few weeks.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I also cut my husband's hair, clippers and all.  Not the best, but the more choppy look was kinda edgey looking on him, and I like it!!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	What about you?

	In an effort to lighten my load, I'm considering not packing sneakers for my Caribbean cruise. Is this a mistake? I never wear them in the Caribbean but always bring them "in case". I do have a great walking sandal that I spend all summer in at home. Most of our excursions are snorkelling tho I'm sure there will be some walking involved. Just wondering if any of you leave your sneakers at home?

<p>
	I have my own strategies for dealing with my rosacea: favorite products, activities and foods to avoid, etc. While it manifests very individually, I thought it would be nice to have a place where cruisers could share ideas, news, products you like or don't like, how to minimize flare-ups when traveling... whatever you find helpful.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I will begin by sharing news from the Rosacea Review about what alcohols to avoid in skin care products. They list some "harmless alcohols" like cetyl, cetearyl, lauryl, and stearyl. These can be used to prevent water loss or increase the smoothness of a product. The ones to avoid are the astringents, which can be listed as:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	alcohol
</p>

<p>
	ethyl alcohol
</p>

<p>
	ethanol
</p>

<p>
	methanol
</p>

<p>
	isopropyl alcohol
</p>

<p>
	SD alcohol
</p>

<p>
	benzyl
</p>

<p>
	astringent
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If one of these is in the first three or four ingredients on a list, it will be in a higher concentration than if it is at the end.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I hope you find this helpful!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I personally have a lot of trouble with any astringents, perfume (especially in face products), chemical sunscreens, foundation, and eye shadow.

	As one whose jacket buttons, or bra hooks, can set off the metal alarms in airports and cruise terminals, I was amused to watch a movie in which a young woman, supposedly an experienced overseas traveler, walked into the airport wearing a leather jacket with loads of zippers and studs, high lace-up boots with zippers and studs, a belt with a huge buckle, and loads of chunky jewelry.

	This subject is off topic, but I have received such wonderful suggestions from this forum in the past that I decided to reach out.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	After the HAL 2021 Grand Africa Voyage was cancelled, I booked a month long land tour of Germany (primarily the former GDR), the Czech Republic, and Poland leaving from Berlin in mid September.
</p>

<p>

<p>
	I will be limited to one checked bag and a small backpack.  My primary concern is that I not be cold, but I do not want to take up valuable space in the checked bag by bringing garments I won't use.

<p>
	The question of why Americans have "bangs" and British have a "fringe" just came up.  Interesting!
</p>

<p>
	When I lived in Australia, I learned a few differences about clothing names.  Some that I recall are:
</p>

<p>
	US:  sweater  or pullover                UK: jumper
</p>

<p>
	         jumper                                             pinafore
</p>

<p>
	          dress                                               frock
</p>

<p>
	           pumps (shoes)                              court shoes
</p>

<p>
	            sneakers                                         trainers
</p>

<p>
	            costume                                           fancy dress
</p>

<p>
	            bathing suit                                       bathing costume
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I imagine that there are regional and national differences, too.
</p>

<p>
	Give us some more!
