This one caught my eye as I researched music-themed cruises. Yesterday they announced part of their lineup for the 2021 cruise, and I have to say it checked a lot of boxes for me:

One of my favorite bands? Check.

Forgotten act with lots of cool songs? Check.

Several other acts with a song or two - or three - that I like? Check.

Compatible with my schedule? I can make it work, so check.

Quality ship & cruise line? I have sailed on the Celebrity Summit before, and the Infinity is in the same class. In addition, it's getting a redo that will just be a few months old at the time of this cruise. Check.

Kind words from veterans on this and similar cruises? Check.

I'd like to go on this cruise as I'm pretty excited about it. The burning questions I have, which may or may not be answerable except by me:

Do they still have it? Magic in the studio 40+ years ago may or may not translate to magic in the theater in the present day.

Will they play my favorite song(s)? Almost certainly no in the case of Foreigner (I like their obscure ones most), almost certainly yes for the others.

Will I fit in? The demographic I expect was described by the title of one of Foreigner's singles, and I don't generally fit that. I'm not a big fan of the big 70s styles and trends and would prefer to avoid them (though I don't mind if others indulge).

Can I adjust to life without a view? The single inside cabin is the only one I can afford without selling my soul or signing up for a roomie.

Let's see if I can make things work and join this cruise for what I'm sure will be an enjoyable time.

So far, jazz cruises have been discussed in the 'Charter music cruises selling out' thread. Well, I thought that it was high time that they had a thread of their own. So, if you are currently booked, thinking about booking, or have done a 'jazz cruise' in the past -- please feel free to chime in. This includes: The Smooth Jazz cruise (my fav), Blue Note at Sea, The Jazz cruise (straight-ahead jazz) -- and, let's not forget the record-holder for the fastest booked-up ship: Dave Koz & Friends.

I just saw on a Facebook group for the Star Trek The Cruise Facebook page that somebody posted a photo of an announcement for the 2020 cruise. I cannot vouch for its credibility, but it was added by a member of the group, most likely a Trekkie, so was probably seen at a convention.

If it's true, looks like the ship will be Royal Caribbean, not Norwegian like the 2019 cruise, and March instead of January like the 2019 cruise.

in 1901 Cyclist Major Taylor sailed across the Atlantic on the German based SS Kaiser Wilhelm in a 1st Class Cabin and by all reports was treated well like a rock star to begin his iconic international World Tour....in 1934 Cab Calloway's Band sailed on the SS Majestic to London to launch his 1st International Tour & in 1936 the iconic Summer Olympic Team sailed on the SS Manhattan to Berlin (including Jesse Owens and 17 African American Teammates including 2 Females ) complete with a large Media contingency

I'm wondering at the peak of Post Reconstruction Jim Crow Era politics practiced in America the response of their fellow passengers upon recognizing some of the most high profile African American Athletes and Musicians of their time ..sort of like today;s modern day Smooth Jazz Smooth Charters

I originally posted this on the carnival thread and had a suggestion to try and see what type of response I would get here. So here goes.....:

Before some of you start attacking me, My DH, bff and her husband and I just got off a cruise on the Freedom. We had a fabulous time. We enjoyed a lot of what the ship had to offer. Spent a few dollars in the casino (I would rather spend my money on other things like the spa, etc...), bingo and spent some time in the 70's club and karoke. Only had one instance that I really hated was a guy wearing a t-shirt with different "positions" on it in the MDR. I understand that nowadays people can wear just about anything in the MDR but can't the line be drawn somewhere? There were parents of small children and older people in the dining room that were offended.

Anyway, back to my original question. I was wondering how many people there are like us on a cruise. Christians who don't drink but like to have a good time. We would have loved to met others like us. (Don't be offended anyone can do as they wish just as I can do as I wish). Would anyone like us be interested in possibly doing a group cruise?

Hi, thanks to everyone who helps. I see the Impractical Jokers sailed last year on Norwegian Pearl and are doing so in 2020 again. I contacted them to tell them I am not well enough to do post this, but I'm trying. Also, could someone make sure this is on the right forum, right ship? I have chronic neuralgia, that makes it hard for me be in one position for any length of time. I emailed the impractical jokers cruise that I would like info from their 2019 cruise, and they could not help until their 2020 schedule is released. Hard to believe. I have just now missed the 30 day advance notice for airline tix.

	2) Here's my email: Could you send me a link, or screen shots, of the last year's schedule of activities with the Tenderloins? I need to see if the times will work for me, given my illness. Also, in the past, I've seen screen shots of meal times, etc on cruise critic, but I'm not well enough to look them up. It would mean the world to me and my husband if you could go the extra mile to dig this up for us. It's the only way we can go on the cruise. I have wanted to go for several years, and haven't been able to. Frankly, I will be devastated if I can't go.

Hi, I just came across articles about a Melissa Etheridge cruise that just ended. Has anyone cruised on those before? I think there’s only been a few. I wonder if they’ll repeat it next year? Not advertised as a lesbian cruise but the music line up seemed heavy on female acts, and the one photo I saw had some men in it. Just wondering if the clientele skews female. Partner and I have enjoyed many cruises with Olivia Travel, just wondering how this one compares. Do they sell out the ship? Just looking for general observations and impressions if you know anyone who has been. Thanks!

I saw this searching around because I've been to a couple conventions on land. No I don't believe everyone but it is still fun to see what they have to say and how the conversations shift and change over time. Plus I like to mingle with other folks there. I've seen things in Reno and even caught them on my camera but who knows I try to keep skeptical. I already have status with Royal Caribbean and I'll see how the peeps are on Celebrity this January. Anyone know if this type of cruise even comes to Royal Caribbean or Celebrity?

I have been a Diehard Steelers fan my whole life. I am very excited about this cruise, however I have no idea what to expect. I feel the price of the cruise was expensive, but it will be a once in a lifetime experience. Since booking the cruise, it seems there a lot of extra "experiences" which are all very pricey. I wanted to see if anyone from previous years can offer suggestions as to which "experiences" are worth it. I already signed up for the autograph session. Thank you

I know TCM USED to do this- does anyone know of any cruises where they play the classics under the stars?
