If I access the Cunard web site and select the option "When would you like to travel?" the first calendar year shown is 2022 - you need to use the back link to get 2021. Are they trying to tell us something?

Am rather confused.

I am booked to go to NY on 22/10, arriving 29/10. This crossing M136 is still on sale.

However Cunard say that they have "stopped selling all cruises 8 days and longer which call at a US port and depart between 1 January and 1 November 2021". So the round trip M136A cannot be booked, but the return trip M137A can...

I can't see the logic - both crossings separately are obviously 7 nights (technically 8 days...)

I'd have hoped by October that enough of the UK and US are vaccinated that Covid is manageable, but maybe this looks like being a 2022 trip (to celebrate my then 61st birthday...)

As the Cunard fleet is stuck rather close to home I thought it would be nice to remember happier times so let's see the ships in port or at anchor & see if we can identify the location.

QE January 2023 Tasmania Voyage

One of QE's unannounced 2023 voyages showed up temporarily a couple days ago on a cruise booking web site. Now it's back and it's showing up on more than one such site, so my guess is this is probably real.

We know QE will be in Barcelona on 10 October 2022. That's the last of the officially announced QE itineraries.

The cruise schedule for the port of Melbourne has QE in Melbourne several times starting 13 November 2022.

Now there is this 8 night QE itinerary to Tasmania for 20-28 January 2023 showing up on a few sites.

20 Jan 2023: Sydney, Australia

21 Jan 2023: At Sea

22 Jan 2023: Hobart, Australia (overnight)

23 Jan 2023: Hobart, Australia

24 Jan 2023: At Sea

25 Jan 2023: Burnie, Australia

26 Jan 2023: At Sea

27 Jan 2023: At Sea

28 Jan 2023: Sydney, Australia

Haven't been able to find any more than this yet for new 2023 itineraries for any of the Cunard ships, including the 2023 QM2 and QV world voyages. Just thought this one snippet for QE might be of some interest.

I'll start ....

I live in a small village on the coast of South Wales, we have a village shop and 2 pubs. Both now closed because of new restrictions imposed on Friday, the one directly opposite our house is planning to continue with takeaways, we had Fish and Chips from there on Friday. I already had my groceries delivered so I’ve been relatively lucky, just long waits to get onto the Ocado website. Our nearest town has a Coop and a NISA and they’ve been relatively well stocked – so my husband says I haven’t been out ! His Mother lives there and he’s done a few bits of shopping for her – not always successfully, she was expecting minced beef yesterday and he delivered a packet of mint sweets !!

I’ve been working from home since last Wednesday, again not always successfully – our Company has a large number of employees in mainland Europe who have already taken all the available log-ins before we get up in the morning. Things were better on Friday so I’m hoping for some improvement this week. I’m due back on site on Wednesday, although things may have changed by them. I’m also a Union rep so I’ve been trying to make sure people are looked after. A steel works isn’t very easy to “hibernate”.

It was my birthday yesterday so instead of going to the classical concert we’d planned, I found the same pieces on Youtube and Mr HH made me a lovely meal. He’s still working for the moment although he’s due to be made redundant at the end of the month anyway.

We didn’t have any cruises booked so I’ve haven’t had anything to cancel/re-arrange. We had a week’s holiday in Spain at the end of February, with the benefit of hindsight that seems to have been perfect timing.

Exterior Door Magnets/Signs on Queen Mary 2 Transatlantic Crossing?

Hello,

On my Alaska cruise on Princess we put a door magnet/sign on the outside of our cabin door.

This may be a moot point on Cunard since I think I read that the exterior of the doors are not metal (?). I'm wondering if this is the case, and even if they are metal and so could hold a magnetic sign is this something that people do on a Transatlantic crossing?

"Freedom Dining" in Grills and Britannia Club?

Perhaps this is just a change in terminology, but recently the booking site is indicating that the Grills and Britannia Club offer "freedom dining." Other lines that use that term offer no table assignment. One of the best things about the Grills and the Club is being able to dine at all meals when you wish, but you have the same table.

On a Holland America cruise we booked traditional dining (second sitting at dinner) on the upper level of the restaurant. The lower level was freedom dining and every time I looked there was a long queue to get in. I am hoping Cunard doesn't do away with table assignments.

This will be a bit of a trial balloon, but I've been posting daily sunrise photos from my past travels on several other forums (HAL, Crystal, and Maryland cruisers) and wonder if that would be of interest here. Most will not be from Cunard ships, although it just happens that today's photo is. I sailed the Crystal Symphony to Antarctica in 2016, and rather than fly from Baltimore in winter, I chose to do a pair of Cunard transatlantics and fly from Miami instead (and do we really need an excuse for another transatlantic or two). It turned out to be a very wise decision as Baltimore was hit by 2 feet of snow July 15 on Queen Victoria was a sea day between Porto Delgada and Port Canaveral:

We don't know all the details of the new QM2 2022 World Voyage yet, but I've noticed we can deduce quite a bit about the itinerary from what Cunard has posted on their New 2022 World Voyage on Queen Mary 2. page and from email I've received about it.

Here are the segments of the full 118-night QM2 2022 World Voyage round trip from New York.

Jan 03-Jan 10 (7 nights): New York-Southampton

Jan 10-Feb 01 (22 nights): Southampton-Dubai (via Suez Canal, Red Sea and a call in Oman)

Feb 01-Feb 18 (17 nights): Dubai-Hong Kong (via Colombo, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and two calls in Viet Nam)

Feb 18-Mar 06 (16 nights): Hong Kong-Sydney (via Bitung, Darwin, Cairns, Whitsunday Islands and Brisbane)

Mar 06-Mar 22 (16 nights): Sydney-Singapore (via Melbourne, Fremantle and Bali)

Mar 22-Apr 04 (13 nights): Singapore-Dubai (via Penang, Colombo, Abu Dhabi and Doha)

Apr 04-Apr 24 (20 nights): Dubai-Southampton (via Muscat, Aqaba, Suez Canal, Civitavecchia and Lisbon)

Apr 24-May 01 (7 nights): Southampton-New York

There is mention of several evening departures without being more specific as well as overnight stays in Haifa, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. There is also mention of a call to a UNESCO World Heritage site in Greece without being more specific.

It doesn't mention which segments will include the calls at Haifa and Greece. It seems likely those would be included on the outbound Southampton-Dubai segment since it's otherwise so devoid of port calls and it's two nights longer than the return Dubai-Southampton segment.

It also doesn't mention if the overnight stays in Dubai and Singapore will be on the outbound or return segments (or both). It seems likely there would be an overnight stay in Singapore on the return portion of the voyage since Singapore is defined as a segment end/begin point on the return portion.

Stay tuned for further details. It shouldn't be too much longer until all is revealed.

Cunard 2023 World Cruise Announcement?

I'm surprised there hasn't been an announcement of itineraries, aren't they announced by now? I saw that HAL has theirs out this week unofficially, I thought Cunard usually beat them to the punch.

The Cunard Upgrade - How does it work

If I select the (as the terms and conditions) the highest price club balcony (which should upgrade to grill) or the highest price balcony (which should upgrade to club) at no point in the on line booking does it show an upgrade has been applied.. So Im confused...

Manage My Booking is down

I have just booked my first cruise with Cunard for next July (fingers crossed). I have been trouble to log in to the Manage My Booking page for several days but it says "Down for Maintenance". Does anyone else get this?

QM2 - CPAP unit and distilled water

Good day everyone! we are embarking our first Cunard crossing June 7th. We are experienced cruisers, just Cunard newbies! I have carefully combed many pages of information and I carefully selected a sheltered balcony to enjoy the balcony despite any weather!

My question lays with the CPAP and provided distilled water - does Cunard provide the distilled water if I notify/request them ahead of time? I ask since this will make me have to go out of my way on embarkation day to purchase it, most other cruise lines that we have sailed simply provide it. So any recent experience would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

USB Power Outlets on Queen Mary 2 Britannia Club Balcony Cabins?

I am wondering if anyone can tell me how many (if any) USB power outlets there are in a Britannia Club Balcony Cabin? I believe the Britannia and Britannia Club balcony cabins are the same layout, so my question would probably be appropriate for either class?

Extra points if you can also tell us how many US, UK, and European (if any) regular (non-USB) outlets there are in that class of cabin.

Refund time frame

Hello,

Is it common practice for Cunard to use all 60 days to issue a refund? I requested a refund on December 12 just after they canceled out sailing and have seen nothing nor heard a peep from the. I do think it is a poor business practice not to keep you up to date.

1. I never received an e-mail or call about them canceling our April sailing. I found out from this forum.

2. Once I requested a refund on their website I never received a conformation that they received it.

3. When I logon to their website it still shows my itinerary for April!

I am a little miffed at the process and it leaves me little confidence on any future dealings with Cunard.

Westbound Transatlantic - M117 Departs 9th June - What about the restrictions?

So per Cunard’s website the next TA leaves for New York on June 9th, and they are still selling staterooms as I type. Personally I cannot even remotely imagine that this cruise will actually happen, but here’s my question....

The official UK government website regarding COVID restrictions states the following:

If you are in the UK you should not travel abroad. Under current UK COVID-19 restrictions, you must stay at home. You must not travel, including abroad, unless you have a legally permitted reason to do so. It is illegal to travel abroad for holidays and other leisure purposes.

So assuming there is no change in the law during the next 14 weeks anyone traveling on that cruise who is not returning to the US as a permanent resident or who is traveling for essential business reasons is by definition breaking UK law - which must be 90% of the passengers.

What am I missing here ?

So is anyone here actually booked on that cruise, and is it just a case of hoping the rules change before you sail ?

QM2 newbies - Electronics questions

My wife and I will be on the May 1, 2022, crossing on the Queen Mary 2. This will be our first time on Cunard and only our second cruise of any kind (the other was a 300 passenger one on the Adriatic). We're having fun planning and thinking about the journey, and I have a lot of questions, but I'm parcelling them out over the next little while. Feel free to offer advice on related issues, if I've missed anything obvious I should know about.

Okay, let's start with Electronics!

Somewhere in the Cunard FAQs it says you can't use surge protectors for the crossing because they interfere with the in-house system. Really? I use a surge protector to protect myself from electrical systems like that! Can anyone explain?

I've read that there are two 220 and two 110 outlets. Are these on the console in the main room and in the dressing area makeup table (we have Queens Grill suite)? Or what?

There is apparently a Cunard app, but only for Apple devices? I've looked at the Carnival Android app and it doesn't list any of the Cunard ships.
