Hello everyone,

Does anyone know what types of drinks are available in the fridges in the cabins on P&O Australia's ships?

If so, how much are the drinks? Same as bar prices or more expensive?

	How often are they replenished?

Photos of fridge/menu would be helpful (even though I don't think people will be taking pictures of the fridge on holiday 😛 ).

The ship was due to go to the British cruise brand ‘Cruise & Maritime Voyages’, in May 2021 to be renamed Ida Pfeiffer, in honour of the famous Austrian explorer. However following CMV’s collapse, Carnival Corporation has found a new buyer, the Greek ferry operator, Seajets, for the 1994 built, 55,819 gross tonne ship.

 From Cruise Harbour News:

The cruise ship Karnika, which until recently was owned by the now bankrupt Jalesh Cruises, has been sold for scrapping in Alang, India, after its future has been in doubt in recent weeks, Cruise & Harbour News understands.

The ship is located off Mumbai - according to an on board report, without any electricity, after being practically abandoned by Jalesh, which was forced to close its doors due to the global situation in which we live. With 245 meters long by 32 wide, and 70 thousand tons of gross tonnage, the Karnika is part of a class of two, to which the current Pacific Dawn also belongs, which was originally destined for Sitmar, that went bankrupt during its construction, and so the vessel was delivered to Princess. Karnika can be recognized as the former Pacific Jewel, Ocean Village Two, AIDABlu (1), A'Rosa Blu and Crown Princess.

The agreement will be carried out by the cash-buyer NKD Maritime, who has purchased it for an estimated value of just over US $5 million, and thus, it will be the first to be beached in Alang for dismantling, since the economic crisis in the cruise industry has started to take several cruise ships to Aliaga, Turkey. Its beaching is expected, for now, later this year. In it's final years of his career, Karnika was dedicated, precisely, to an innovative operation in the Indian market.

Hi, I am needing information for a Sitmar/P&O cruise we took in March 1989. All we can find are 2 photos. One taken by an on-board photographer shows us at dinner with my in-laws, and another shows my wife at the Champagne Tree wearing the same dress and the date is 19/03/1989. I suspect it was the cruise immediately before the Easter cruise, and on the Fairstar out of Sydney. P&O are apparently not able to find passenger manifests that long ago (pre-computer) or unwilling to try. Like many other members, we are trying to add to our history for Princess Captain's Circle credits as we have booked 3 of their cruises this year. We also remember a P&O Christmas cruise in 1983, but the P&O Loyalty department won't check their records without more details. Any info would be gratefully appreciated.

OK never cruised on P&O before. Have done only one cruise Cunard to PNG - loved it. BUT I very prone to sea sickness and swore I'd never cruise out of NZ because of this (the Sydney to PNG itinerary the sea varied from slight to calm - no movement at all). On that cruise we were an interior cabin on the lowest deck and that was fine for movement - but because the sea was flat it was no real test.

Now looking at a short 4 day cruise ex Akl-Napier -Akl next February on the Pacific Explorer. The seas could be rough - cyclones hitting the Coromandel is fairly common that time of year. I wouldn't mind a balcony - because I expect the decks will be a whole lot more crowded than Cunard - and the price is fine. But my choice is a balcony midships on deck 9 and an oceanview midships on deck 5.

How much difference in movement is there between deck 5 and deck 9? Obviously lower is better - but how much better? Please don't tell me I wouldn't feel the movement - if its bad weather I will - and no its not all in my head! Did a crossing on Cook Strait and even though the swell under 2m and you're really only exposed to it for a 45min and that was enough for me to start sweating.

Money is not an issue - the price difference is minimal - I like the idea of a balcony - but not if its going to lay me low for 12 the trip!

Just announced on P&O Cruises Australia Facebook page.

Hi everyone, we have some important news today regarding the P&O Cruises Australia fleet. We wanted to let you know that our beautiful Pacific Dawn will be leaving us in the coming weeks.

It’s always sad to say farewell to a much loved ship and in this respect Pacific Dawn is in a class of her own. When she sailed into our hearts in November 2007, Pacific Dawn became Australia’s first superliner and the catalyst for the resurgence of cruising in Australia. Sydney Olympic gold medal hero Catherine Freeman honoured Pacific Dawn as her godmother.

In her 13 years with P&O, Pacific Dawn carried an astonishing 1.2 million guests and sailed 2.2 million kilometres — the equivalent of nearly three times to the moon and back or 56 times around the Equator. Even more importantly, she introduced so many of you to cruising.

As you know, it was originally planned for Pacific Dawn to leave us in February next year but this has now been brought forward to facilitate the sale we’ve announced today.

Please accept our apologies if you have bookings that have been affected. We will be in touch with you soon regarding cancellation arrangements.

In the meantime, together we can look forward to wonderful days ahead as Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter are introduced to the fleet. For now, we salute you Pacific Dawn.

😞

On 25th November 2015 P&O Australia had a party in Sydney Harbour to welcome Pacific Eden and Pacific Aria to the P&O fleet.

At this time they still had Pacific Pearl, Pacific Jewel and Pacific Dawn, who where in Sydney Harbour for the party.

Well current rumour circulating is Pacific Dawn and Aria are not coming back .

They were due to leave the fleet next year to CMV however CMV went into administration a couple weeks ago - putting the ship's future into limbo.

Although P&O is still selling their sailings, rumour among the industry is they're not coming back.

If true a sad day that we're losing two ships in one go, especially for Melbourne! 😞
