It is kind of silly that they did not offer an upgraded accessory. Most passengers playing the game will be on the Premier package and already have the Medallion holder as part of the package. Who needs two?

I won the Medallion accessory on my November cruise. When I went to the desk to get it, I was told I could choose any of the offerings and pay the difference from the $10 prize cost. I chose a watch band for $12, so had a $2 charge added to my account.

We checked in with the private lounge offsite, so I think they were Princess employees. He called the ship multiple times with our questions, and for other guests who wanted to book Sanctuary and such, so should have received the correct info. The guest services manager told me later that she had not been at the desk when the calls came from him, so he did receive incorrect info from the ship.

You are right! The offer we booked under as pay for Plus and get Premier, so all my paperwork showed the Plus benefits. I didn't remember about the internet, so paid $90 for something we didn't need. Oh, well. A mistake I won't make in the future.

I know this is the policy for Princess, but they don't follow it. We cruised last June and by the time I was made aware of this requirement after final payment, it was too late for the friend to get a passport. So we were prepared to be denied boarding with just the BC and ID, but had no problems. What caused a problem once on the ship was lack of the authorization letter from the parents! We had it; kept asking about it at check-in and being told nothing further was required. Then once in our cabin, the head of Guest Services found us and said she would need it. So the parents took photos and messaged me, which I then emailed to Guest Services manager. The mother did tell me they are going to start now to get passports for the cruise this summer.

OP here. Thank you all for the replies. That is the section I had found on the website. I took the other teen with us last June, so know about having the form filled out by the parents and having ID. Sounds like this should be possible to book the way I want, but if not, once we change cabins on board we would show in the "correct" cabins to then purchase the Plus for the adults only. Last summer when we cruised, my son and I had the Premiem package (as a free upgrade offer) and I just bought additional internet for the friend and paid the daily grats.

I feel like this has been answered but could not find the answer in a search. What is the minimum age for someone to be booked into a cabin without an adult with them? I am planning a cruise with a new boyfriend and my teenage son (16yo) plus another 16yo. Will end up with the kids in one cabin and us in another, and I know I can book one adult and one teen in each cabin and switch once on-board. However, I would prefer to not have to purchase the Plus package for all 4 of us, since the kids won't get the full benefit of the package. I found on the Princess website where it states family groups with multiple cabins have to be 16yo, but when I called was told 21yo minimum. I am going to try calling later this week to see if I get the same answer. I guess the other question would be if I book us all standard, then switch once on the ship and add the Plus package to my cabin, would it go to me and my son, or me and the boyfriend? As in, do they actually move the passenger in the system, or just rekey the medallion? Thanks for any insight you may have.

We were invited in June. I was cruising with my teen son and his girlfriend, and driving down from Orlando with her parents. They were allowed to park their vehicle in the garage and hang out with us until we boarded the van. The concierge did have our Medallions for us, and we were escorted by a staff member from the reception office through the crowds at the port and up to the ship. The concierge was also in contact with Ship Guest Services about questions I had about requirements for sailing with the non- family member. It was very calm and relaxed, and would have been even easier if just family sailing.

Yes, we were able to sail. They didn't even question the lack of a passport. Her BC was enough. Goes to show the rule is not well known to any Princess staff. We also asked about a parental consent form and the ship said no need, but when we were in our cabin after boarding the Director of Guest Services came and asked for one. So a bit of miscommunication there. The parents has a copy and we're able to text a photo of it and their DL and ship was happy. We had a great trip.

He would go if I made him. I just don't think he would be great company since we have been looking forward to the trip together. I am pretty sure he would be welcomed to stay with GF family for the week.

They moved to Florida last summer. So no longer in his district. The parents will be driving all of us down to FLL from Orlando. I can't imagine forcing my son to sail without the GF if she is turned away. He would not be good company for the week.

We have the Platinum Plan, so could use the cancel for any reason if my son decided to not cruise with me. I actually booked an offer of 3&4th sail free, so the girlfriend was free and I got $150 OBC for her. Thank you for the referrals. I will pass them along. And I will report back what happens

Thanks, yes, I saw that. I did a search to see what recent posts there were on the subject. That person seems to only live a few hours south of DC from their profile. If the parents could get an appointment in Miami office, or even better, something in Orlando, it would be do-able. Flying to get a passport is unlikely to happen.

They have. They were told they could only get an appointment for Hawaii. They live in Florida. So both parents and the girl would have to fly to Hawaii for an appointment. Not going to happen. 14 days prior to sailing is Saturday, so going to try calling then. I don't know the parents work schedules and whether they all have a weekday off to do this. The kids may end up staying home and I get a vacation alone. Time will tell.

I am traveling with my 15yo son and his 15yo girlfriend in June. We booked the (closed-loop) Princess cruise to the Caribbean about a week prior to final payment. My son and I have passports, but his girlfriend does not. I had told the mother that she would only need her original birth certificate, which they had. When I signed into the Medallion app to complete all the documentation in April, I got a pop-up that because there was only one adult with multiple minors, all passengers would be required to have passports. I understand the reasoning for this. The family has been trying to get a passport and was told it would take a few months. The most recent conversation they had with the passport processing center was they could get an appointment for a same day passport, but it could be at any location in the US. The current appointment offered was Hawaii! So both parents will be coming to check in with me with only the birth certificate and hope she can get on the ship. I really hope the kids will not be disappointed. Does anyone have any experience with this?
